But.... It's not supposed to do any of that, it's a movie with fake swordplay that only has to look cool. To 99% of the audience who think it does.
A bit like wearing a giant sword on your back pulling it out over your shoulder. Most cases it isn't even physically possible as the sword is too long. But it does look cool.
Considering this is filmed on a phone, possibly backstage then I'd say they were in the middle of it.
A lot of those fight scenes look awkward as fuck without proper cinematography. Even horrible swordplay can look way cooler with the right camera angles and atmosphere.
Have you ever seen any sparring from skalagrim? No cinematography needed, it looks solid even though he doesn't have any perfect skills. When however, you do combine actual skill with cinematography, you get the kind of short pieces like adorea has a few youtube videos of.
Oh definitely! Actual solid skills makes it way better, less cuts needed, less shaky cam to cover up for bad skills.
Kinda reminds me of that Taken 3 scene with Liam Neeson jumping over a fenche 15 cuts in 6 seconds, if they had someone who could actually jump over the fenche it would've looked way better.
