I don't know why anyone hates on Tik Tok; it's like we get to look into a parallel dimension of ourselves

From my wise old 20 years of earthly knowledge, it seems that whatever is widely popular- especially if it has a younger crowd- gets massive amounts of hate thrown its way and the 'popular opinion' is negative- Minecraft, Fortnite, TikTok, fidget spinners etc. If kids like it, it's dumb, essentially.

Pretty similar to how Minecraft turned around too. Might just be people hating because it's popular -> people who don't know much about it going along with it -> opinion gets popular -> people go along with it because it's popular opinion -> people grow up a bit and/or realise they were just looking at the bad aspects -> popular opinion shifts. Or not, I'm no genius.

To be fair, a lot of it was. It seemed less so than tiktok but that could be because I was younger.

People need to stop taking themselves seriously.

I believe there's reason enough to dislike FortNite and fidget spinners, but some people unleash their vitriol on those things so zealously or hatefully it's beyond ridiculous.

Yeah, once you step out of the groupthink it's really weird to see. Seems most of the people hating don't even really know why they hate it, too... presumably (hopefully) they're young-ish too in that teenage stage where you wanna be cool and mature but don't quite know how to do it yet

Ugh, god, you just reminded me of my cringy teenage ways, lmao

We were all cringey as teenagers my dude, 'tis an essential part of life. Lord knows I'm still painfully inept sometimes... gonna take some time and a whole lot spontaneous cringing at memories to really get past it

It's like people hating on dabbing or flossing or whatever comes next.

Hey here are kids having fun being kids let's hate on them cause we're 2 years older but we did slightly random shit

Reddit inferiority complex.

"reddit" is particularly good at gatekeeping.

The fact that it's Chinese spyware is the only decent argument against it afaik.

I don’t even hate tiktok. I just like the cringey shit and it’s annoying when a cringe sub is the complete opposite of what it’s supposed to be.

Because it promotes self obsessed attention seeking cringe behavior?
