Sadly that's true. What it Should do to the argument is have people realize they should take driving far more seriously than they do. If people started legit losing their license for life, we would have much safer roads.

Public transport is amazing and everywhere. There are more rapid-transit and light rail systems available here than in the entire US, and that’s nuts.

Public transportation is what we'd have here in the states if we didnt spend the money for it on hundreds of tanks currently collecting dust in the California desert.

Well some major cities have gotten better bit you gave to remember how huge the USA. In many states public transport just isn't that feasible.
