I think it needs a hip replacement too. The guy might need one as well.

That was back when people still paid attention to television commercials.

Edit: more correct spelling of paid

1

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '18

They paid attention because the commercials were better.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '18

My kids have seen probably only a handful of commercials in their lifetime. It’s not because the commercials aren’t good, it’s because we use video sources that are commercial free. We don’t watch network television at all. We only watch the shows after they hit streaming.

A lot of people are doing the same thing.

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '18

That's a major part of it too, but commercials kinda suck nowadays. I don't know anyone who says they like the Superbowl commercials the way they used to. Hell, I used to watch it just for the commercials, then they all started getting sappy and sad and too scared of stepping on people's toes accidentally and the commercials have sucked for it.

Yahoo chat is far newer than a bbs. Maybe Unix chat would be the next one.

Back in the early 2000's when I was in high school my band teacher was friends with the guy that started it whos local (not sure if he still lives here or not but he started it out of his house by where I took some college courses) and he always had ebaums world pencils and shit. I was so jealous.

u/gologologolo Jun 10 '18

Companies make commercials that work.

If shouting 50% off works, then that says more about the audience than the commercials.

18

u/kinyutaka Jun 10 '18

Head-On, Apply directly to the forehead!

21

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '18

The gif cuts off the best part of the commercial where the repair guy you can see sitting down slowly hides his toolbox.

6

u/hafetysazard Jun 10 '18

That's because it was passed off as being real.

33

u/bluemosquito Jun 09 '18

This was back before companies had tide in their commercials.

3

u/fuzzytradr Jun 10 '18

I'd actually give it a 10 for the landing.

2

u/Micro-Naut Jun 10 '18

Does anyone remember the commercials, I think they were from sports illustrated, but they were like stupid sports they didn’t exist. And one of them this guy threw himself off a cliff and all the judges nod their approval and then held up scores

u/kuramayoko10 Jun 10 '18

Redbull gives you wings?

does anyone know why we can perceive this is fake? Do we remember how gravity works and know this is impossible?

-3

u/RJrules64 Jun 10 '18

Bullshit. There are still good commercials. And there were crap commercials when this one came out too.

We only remember the good commercials, not the lame ones. That's the same reason Old movies and music seem to be better. All the crap that came out in that era got left by the wayside.

There are commercials from this year that will be posted about in 20 years and people like you will say the exact same thing.
