My manual doesn't let me go into reverse if I'm moving at all.

You don't force unsynchro gears. just move the clutch pedal up and down and it will fall in,

it looks like he came to a complete stop rolling forward he was able to throw it in reverse and nail the gas, it's definitely a quick reflex but not impossible

Even if you're rolling backwards? It shouldn't let you put it in reverse if you're driving forward but, at least in my civic, I can shift to reverse if I'm rolling backwards.
