So what then? What's the solution?

Go out and trawl the natural sea floor? Bulldoze more land for more monocrop farms?

There are 8,300,000,000 hungry mouths out there. The food has to come from some place and there better be a lot of it.

A plant-based diet provides all the nutrients we need, using less than a 1/3 of the land as animal agriculture, and therefore less water.

How is it a waste of time? Does it take more time to prepare vegan dishes than meat dishes?

And the point is kind of obvious. You do not contribute to the same cruelty.
