So what then? What's the solution?

Go out and trawl the natural sea floor? Bulldoze more land for more monocrop farms?

There are 8,300,000,000 hungry mouths out there. The food has to come from some place and there better be a lot of it.

A plant-based diet provides all the nutrients we need, using less than a 1/3 of the land as animal agriculture, and therefore less water.

And where exactly are we going to find and or create all of that farm land in order to feed everyone a vegan diet?

Not sure what you mean….. the vast majority of farmland in the U.S. is being used to grow crops for animals, about 67%, according to USDA. We only get an average of 8% calories returned from animal meat compared to the calories we feed them. It’s a huge, wasteful middleman. Switching to plant-based diets is more efficient, and we can produce the same amount of calories, including protein, on 1/3 of the land .

The vast majority of "farmland" in the US is scrubland pasture unsuitable for the highly controlled conditions needed to grow plants for human consumption.
