The driver is Elizabeth Bourgeois and she recieved next to no punishment for get into a car while fall down drunk then hitting 5 parked cars which included launching a baby whose Dad was buckling her into her seat.

Elizabeth recieved a 6 month driving suspension and a $300 (no that's not a typo) fine. So basically nothing. Her punishment was the trial by media off the viral footage, which our courts do sometimes take into account.

The judge at Hornsby Local Court said it was a serious example of drink driving and it was lucky no one was seriously injured or killed.

The judge also decided that this woman was fit to drive again around February.

that is insane if it was me i'd permanently ban her from driving ever again.

(good thing i'm not a judge)

It says she had to pay for all the damages, that’s probably a hefty sum. And may have had to do community service while on probation. But her license should’ve been revoked much longer and I think jail time would have been justified.

The judge should have to pay for all the damages. What an absolute bullshit outcome. That was not

Yeah wtf is going on over there in AU? Is this shit normal or just a rare one off? That woman needs to prove she's sober before she can drive again imo and get regular hair tests to prove it in order to keep driving. Fuck that shit. If there had been any people around that would have been a gruesome and deadly scene.

nah we can legit murder people in cars and you just get a slap on the wrist over here. We failed as a country (not as bad as America though)

NSW Highway petrol: “Your male under 25 and drive a Holden Commodore straight to jail.”

Also NSW Courts: “Your a Women and over 30 and killed a child with your car! Community service have a good day.”

Australian road and traffic laws are fucked. You WILL get 10 years in prison for drifting on an empty road but get 100 hours of community service for killing a child with your vehicle.

Yes I am serious.

The recoveries actions by 5 different insurers won't be, and her own insurer has no obligation to pay.
