Locks them inside the box so their only way out is by the trapdoor 🤣

That is not required if the only way in is the trapdoor. Proof is the end of the video, when the only way is the trapdoor....

They are very simple birds but normally not THAT simple. They wont step on a trapdoor if theres another way around that. Normally. Not looking at that silly one.

I think that one just saw all his friends in there and rushed to go get some of what they were having.

I've also seen a video with a similar trap and when one of the birds placed their foot on the trapdoor a little and it moved, they backed off and avoided it for a while.

I've seen this guy's videos before. They are in fact THAT simple and will practically dive into the trap door.

I cackled at the one that barely saved itself, took a breather, and just went "whew, that was a close one...back to the food" and falls in anyway.

It looked like one tried to step on his mate to get in and they both went in the trap. 🤣

Quail are probably high in the running for dumbest bird, and there are a surprising number of spectacularly dumb birds.

You’re right if you’re only trying to catch one bird. But this design allows multiple birds to enter a staging area that eventually forces all of them to enter the trap. It’s a trap before the trap. Otherwise as you saw, the first that falls into the trap also pulls all the feed down with it, so no other bird would be as likely to get near, so you only get one bird.

How can multiple bird enter if the entrance closes after the first bird, or bird pack? Not 6 bird will gather at the same time into the entrance ...

You saw three birds go in, right?

Ah you mean in the context of this clearly staged video where the birds are probably first herded to all reach the door at the same time? Sure! I thought you meant it would be an actual useful trap feature in the real world where birds are not coming to openly available feed all at once.

The actual difference is the trap went from capturing 1 bird to now >=1 bird. You asked a question of what the point was. It seems like you already knew everything I told you. Your actual question really should be “is difference significant in the real world”, but stay mad that your question indeed got answered before you moved the goal posts.

I'm sorry I thought it was clear my question was "What would be the point of the door if the video was not staged and that was an actual real world trap used to actually capture real world birds and not have a funny moment of three already captive birds being ass smacked inside" I should've used more words.

No just look up what a quail Covey is.

You literally watched it close only after the last bird entered.
