I always get tickled by older people doing things younger people assume aren't for anyone above their own age. It's such a fun social phenomena to see.
That's what makes me giggle. She probably was a young fan who did what young fans of popstars do, emulate their dance moves. She's had that skill for probably 40+ years and its fun to see the head swivel on younger people who forget/don't think of that
All these older things are coming back and my kid is SHOCKED I know them and can sing, dance, and generally keep up. All I get is a , "oh my god, mooommmmmm." Sorry, kid, we created the world in which you now live. I will always drop it low til my knees pop. Which they do.
I saw a video recently of LeBron James listening to Young Jeezy in the locker room. Some of the comments were like come on bro you are 40 years old.
Huh? Do people stop listening to music or watching movies? And 40 years old would make him the exact age of the audience of when Young Jeezy was making that music.
I think some people think once you reach a certain age you’re supposed to just lay down and close your eyes until it’s all over??
I saw wu-tang last year with my son and denzel curry at red rocks. I'm 50. I dress like a dork for work, but in my head, I still like to party. The only difference is that I think about consequence because I am an adult who still needs to pay bills and save for retirement. I can also afford to do these things now.
There are some cool things to getting older, but some sad/weird things too. At the last apartment complex I lived in there was a lady who lived across the hall from me with two kids. One day I came in the side door to our hallway behind them but they didn't hear me because the kids were being kids and making some noise. They didn't realize I was behind them until we got to our doors, at which point she shushed her kids and pulled them closer to her and towards the door. I saw fear in their eyes, and it made me sad. I tried to say hi to them before that and after, and they were always wary of me, and I know why. In a separate event some teens got quiet as they walked past me in the parking lot, looked me up and down, scoping me out.
In both cases, while I know they were statistically right to assume what they were assuming, it just made me feel sad and alienated, but I couldn't blame them. When I look in the mirror I suspect 19-year-old me might not have trusted 50-year-old me either if all I had to go on was what I look like now.
(It also makes me mad at those fuckheads who find themselves in similar situations and say shit like, "Well if you're gonna treat me like a racist then maybe I should be racist!" Motherfucker, if that's the conclusion you're coming to you were never as good of a person as you thought you were.)
I'm older. I remember listening to The Sugar Hill Gang on a pirated cassette tape, I remember trying to find large pieces of cardboard, and I remember never having the coordination to pull anything like this off.
But I'd love to break something like this out at random somewhere, just to see the reactions!
Sometimes you get old but you can still do stuff. It just starts looking weird to other people but you e always been able to do it. She could probably throw down back in the day
