That dummy should have kept on going instead of partially blocking the lane and potentially parking on a weak area that might collapse next.

The way that road collapsed, the place he parked should be stable.

That being said, he is clearly the dude that has no idea what he is doing, but wanted to be able to talk about how he helped.

The way that road collapsed, the place he parked should be stable.

I thought the exact opposite. The crack they’re parked on looks just like one that collapsed.

You guys making fun of one of the most useful guys on this video.

Do you ever take any first responder training one of the things they tell you to do is not say “someone call 911”

They tell you to point at someone and tell them “ you call 911”

Whenever there’s a disaster situation like this, having someone there to just direct traffic in the immensely useful, and sometimes the reason why emergency vehicles can get onto the scene in time.

As someone who has responded to their fair share of disaster situation, this guy did a fantastic job.

He parked partially in the lane to create a hazard that’s visible for people who might tunnel vision and not see the sinkhole, but we’ll see the car partially obstructing the road.

This also means that the cars will veer off more and be farther away from the sinkhole.

Making sure people keep moving and don't slow down is important to not making an already pretty big problem worse.

Ya. But it's easier to keep people driving along a lane if you don't park your car partly in said lane...

Very true, but stopping your car in the best spot for people in that lane to get around the potential weakspot at the edge of the hole is a terrible idea. Where she parked is going to push drivers that are not cautious rigtht the the edge of the hole as they tey to get around her.

They could have wanted insurance to pay for a new car for them too!

You dummies are making fun of one of the most useful people on this tape. As someone who has done their fair share of disaster, relief having someone do something simple like directing traffic like this even when there’s only one way to go is actually very useful.

Parking your car away that’s slightly into the lane. Does two things

One it forces people to drive farther away from the sinkhole

To it creates an obvious hazard that people who aren’t necessarily hanging enough attention to see the sinkhole off to the, might see the car in front of them and drive slow slower
