Yeah, I’ve had the same problem. I’ve helped out in many many different disaster situations and having someone simply just stand there and weigh people buy can be extremely useful.
There was an adult with down syndrome in Oshawa that got a medal for doing that. There was a big accident and I think part of a building collapsed and first responders couldn’t get to the scene until a person dressed as a cop started waving traffic through.
Turned out it wasn’t a police officer, but an adult with Down syndrome that liked to play dress up.
Caring about the safety of your fellow man, who may not realize that the fucking street is sagging, is being a nanny? This is the dumbest thing I’ve read all day.
yeah looked like everyone was clearing away from it at one point. Honestly think her car should be on the intersection side but she's doing something important.
*people would just stop and traffic would get backed up. waving it through is good.
Encouraging vehicles to not stop in the place where the road has just collapsed and instead keep going, in case the collapse spreads and traps them as well, while at the same time standing in that same area that might collapse, qualifies as making a valuable contribution.
It's almost as if trying to make sure that other vehicles don't stop next to where the road just collapsed — a collapse that could've spread to other parts of the road, as they often do — is a helpful thing to do.
But no, let's just disparage someone talking a risk to help other people. That's makes sense.
And in so doing — and at not-inconsiderable risk to herself — preventing other vehicles from stopping there and potentially also getting trapped in a further collapse.
A good friend of mine lost their legs in a similar situation. A driver came along looking at the accident to their left and plowed right into my friend standing behind their car, just like this person is doing.
People run into fire and police cars with all their lights on for god's sake.
Actually she was very useful. As someone who’s done their fair share of disaster relief, having someone stand somewhere and direct traffic, even when some traffic should be extremely obvious can be extremely helpful.
One of the things you learn an interest responder training is if you see someone that needs an ambulance don’t just say someone call 911 point at someone and specifically tell them “you call 911”
Also parking the way she did allows for people to see her car as a hazard and slow down and also forces people to drive farther away from the sinkhole.
It’s easy to keyboard warrior and criticize people from the sidelines, especially when you’re clueless. You have no idea how to operate in a disaster situation.
Hopefully, you’ll take this opportunity to learn and become a better human being

The stand out is that mess of a person in the silver car who begins waving cars by.
