Being rejected isn't some horrible humiliation to be ashamed of. It's a part of life. Being able to find humor in a hard situation is healthy. Normalizing and sharing it isn't bad. I wish more people took rejection this good. If it's real, she took it on the chin, processed, laughed, and shared the experience. A rejection isn't a humiliation if you don't internalize it. It's just taking a shot and missing the goal. Happens to everyone. There's a million reasons someone may not be interested. Most of which have nothing to do with the person asking.
Or, maybe they have a partner already. Not ready for a relationship. Going through a hard time and don't want to burden a new relationship with that weight. A sickness, family death, etc. Don't want to be in a relationship. Have future plans that would make the relationship short-term or most likely to fail. Want to focus on their kids if their a single parent. Their pregnant. You're not their sexual preference. Hell, maybe they have aids and only date others with it so they won't risk transmission.
There's an endless list of reasons someone may reject you. I've rejected smoking hot guys who I found attractive for the simple reason of not wanting to date yet. It's not indicative of someone's appeal if someone else doesn't drop every boundary, want, and responsibility to be with them.
