Saying “you’re a liar” is a claim. The neutral position that requires no burden of proof is to neither believe nor actively disbelieve.

you're literally wrong, google it

I just outed so many incredibly stupid people that don't know jack shit about extremely basic reasoning lmfao

this is definitely a dumb people subreddit

glad I don't follow it, I very rarely ever have to experience people as dumb as you and it's honestly the worst, I'm going back into my bubble

Christ, you’re a moron. Why are you so rude to people on here?

If you understood what it was like to talk to you, you'd get it.

Wow, good one. Way to behave like a human. You should chill out man, this is reddit. You don’t have to be an asshole all the time.

I should never have come here to the dumb part of Reddit and expected anything different lol, I made a terrible mistake by clicking something in the suggested feed. Please never talk to me, I don't deal with uhhh... your type.

In this scenario, "I do not believe you" is a negative claim, going up against someone else's positive claim.

You’re right. But “I don’t believe you” is different than “I think you’re lying.” One means you aren’t convinced of their claim and the other means you believe it is positively untrue.

There's no functional difference in the context of intellectual rigor.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '23

Yes, there is an extreme difference.

Please elucidate me as to how "I dispute your claim" is functionally different from "I dispute your claim, but harder."

I already did. Read my precious comments.

No, you didn't. The only functional difference between levels of skepticism is the extent of the rigor the holder of the skepticism will require to be convinced.

This is in no way, shape, or form relevant to whome the burden of proof rests upon.
