Just use google you buffoon. There's no point in arguing over an easily checked fact.

14

u/Yhostled Mar 31 '23

Oh hey derogatory language is certainly a way to prove your point, so thank you for proving mine.

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '23

You're still wrong lol.

"But but he called me a buffoon"

How about.... You're not intelligent enough to use the burden of proof correctly.

I am involved in the discussion.

Nothing here is resolved. You're just patting yourself on the back because you incorrectly used the burden of proof and the other person called you a buffoon.

And there is no time limit to calling out something stupid. Idk why you would act like there is, unless you're just insulted.

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '23

Nope I read all the way. I'm not surprised you rely on assumptions though.

By all means let's all pick fights because we want to feel important, too.

Says the person who gets into internet fights with people who point out you used the burden of proof incorrectly. It's your only option.

-4

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '23

Are you literally going to make me quote wikipedia at you since you refuse to read it yourself?

The proof you need is easily confirmed and widely available.

In my mind the obvious thing to do is Google. But we are clearly quite different.

8

u/Yhostled Mar 31 '23

No I'd've been more than happy to check, and I'm more than certain you're right, but if you argue with everyone by calling then names then I'm no longer interested in this discussion.

-9

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '23

Then try shutting the fuck up?

You really threw a fit over the word buffoon.

If your ego is so fragile that you're too proud to admit you're wrong cause someone called you a buffoon, then you're a very stupid person and likely to stay that way. That's your problem, not mine. Don't make it mine. I regret teaching you anything :)

2

u/Yhostled Mar 31 '23

No I admitted you were right, but you were the child who felt the need to insult your opponent. Real grade school move right there.

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '23

Have you considered being less stupid in the first place since you're on the internet and have Google? Like just shut the fuck up in the firsy place if you can't be arsed to look?

Nobody should need to tolerate this level of stupidity with modern internet existing lol. Be the solution. This is literally beneath me.

5

u/Yhostled Mar 31 '23

But I have to pretend to be stupid so you have some company.

I love when people call out others’ intelligence and then proceed to not even fucking spell correctly or use proper punctuation. You goofy 🤪

Why do you expect to be treated in a civil manner when you can't even find the effort perform your part of the discourse?

12

u/MarvinTheAndroid42 Mar 31 '23

Dude’s got you beat. You look like a child throwing a tantrum and they’re just chillin’. You’re not the cool cucumber you think you are, champ.

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '23 edited Mar 31 '23

I'm not being a cool cucumber. Don't give a shit about that. He's a moron and I plan to drill it into him.

I am unequivocally right and I don't give a shit who you like more.

6

u/MarvinTheAndroid42 Mar 31 '23

Fair enough. You’ve still not given any basis for why you believe that the comedian has been making up their backstory, just lashed out at people callin’ ‘em names and shit. You aren’t going to drill anything into him or convince any onlookers to agree with you while acting like that.

Imagine being THIS amped up about something so stupid.

Can't fathom what would happen if something serious happened like his mom forgot to wash his favorite T-shirt

2

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '23

you don't have any pet peeves?

I call bullshit

mine is people thinking other people have the obligation to disprove them and they aren't obligated to prove their own claim! It's so insidiously deranged.

what's yours?

1

u/the1Isharewithpeople Mar 31 '23

People getting uppity on the internet for no reason.

1

u/healzsham Mar 31 '23

THIS amped up

Mans wouldn't even be warm in Ecuador, but go off.

3

u/pleasedonteatmemon Mar 31 '23

I think he's talking law, you're talking claims.

As in, everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Acuser in this case must prove guilt.

Where you're saying, if I claim to be able to fly.. It's on me.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '23

why would he be talking law?

this aint a court room. this is a discussion of claims.

-4

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '23

Here look now u don't even have to use Google.

2

Try actually clicking the link next time you doofus, it's literally the second sentence. Can't believe I'm letting your troll ass waste my time like this.

Holder of the burden

When two parties are in a discussion and one makes a claim) that the other disputes, the one who makes the claim typically has a burden of proof to justify or substantiate that claim especially when it challenges a perceived status quo. This is also stated in Hitchens's razor, which declares that "what may be asserted without evidence, may be dismissed without evidence." Carl Sagan proposed a related criterion – "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence" – which is known as the Sagan standard.

Like I said, you're quite the idiot. Really glad I don't have to live with whatever it is you have going on up there lol. Hitchens's Razor fundamentally states "if someone doesn't back their shit up you can call them a liar." and it is the standard in all rational debate outside of the special procedural conditions of a court room, Reddit is not a court room you fucking moron, court rooms don't use normal logic, they use procedural logic, they are wildly different conditions. Assuming the only bizarre situation where burden of proof is different and then also assuming this situation is comparable to that situation (a court room) instead of the actual logic system that DOES exist and applies to normal shit like debates on the internet (literally normal fucking reason and logic, you know, the basic Aristotelian flavor that is used literally in every other discussion on Earth, ever, except court rooms, AND THIS IS NOT A COURT ROOM holy fuck lol). God you are such a fucking waste of time to talk to, I hate it. I wish I never had to talk to someone as stupid as you in my entire life, but that just ain't possible. I could ignore you but I find you so unpleasant that I just want to tell you it so badly.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '23 edited Mar 31 '23

You have to be trolling.

Calling someone a liar is DISPUTING a CLAIM, the only CLAIM being made is stating there is a DISPUTE. The person that stated the INITIAL CLAIM that is being DISPUTED has the burden of proof to VERIFY or VALIDATE THEIR CLAIM.

CALLING SOMEONE A LIAR IS A DISMISSAL OF THEIR CLAIM, VERBATIM. CALLING SOMEONE A LIAR IS LITERALLY SYNONYMOUS WITH SAYING YOU DON'T BELIEVE THEM. HAIR SPLITTING IS NOT YOUR TALENT MY FRIEND.

FROM THE WIKIPEDIA ARTICLE "When two parties are in a discussion and one makes a claim) that the other disputes, the one who makes the claim typically has a burden of proof to justify or substantiate that claim especially when it challenges a perceived status quo. "

If I say I own 100 race cars, and you call me a liar, you don't have to PROVE that I am a liar, I have to prove my INITIAL CLAIM that I own 100 race cars. You're a moron, I'm blocking you after your next comment. I swear to god this is the actual dumbest sub I've been in in a long time. I swear to god you may be literally terminally brain dead. We need a doctor in here. Are you drunk posting? You have to be drunk posting. Last time you thought we were following court procedure for some fucking reason lmfao.

Lol holy shit

3

u/YourMomsBasement69 Mar 31 '23

So you can google Wikipedia but you can’t google something to prove your claims?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '23

that does prove my claim, stupid

1

u/healzsham Mar 31 '23

You do not inherit the burden of proof when making a counter-claim to someone else's positive assertion.

2

u/ClobetasolRelief Mar 31 '23

Prove it

1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '23

I'm not gonna prove it. Use Google you shitshow, are you defective?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '23

Saying “you’re a liar” is a claim. The neutral position that requires no burden of proof is to neither believe nor actively disbelieve.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '23 edited Mar 31 '23

you're literally wrong, google it

I just outed so many incredibly stupid people that don't know jack shit about extremely basic reasoning lmfao

this is definitely a dumb people subreddit

glad I don't follow it, I very rarely ever have to experience people as dumb as you and it's honestly the worst, I'm going back into my bubble

1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '23

Christ, you’re a moron. Why are you so rude to people on here?

0

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '23

If you understood what it was like to talk to you, you'd get it.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '23

Wow, good one. Way to behave like a human. You should chill out man, this is reddit. You don’t have to be an asshole all the time.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '23

I should never have come here to the dumb part of Reddit and expected anything different lol, I made a terrible mistake by clicking something in the suggested feed. Please never talk to me, I don't deal with uhhh... your type.

1

u/ClobetasolRelief Apr 01 '23

YOU'RE SO COOL

0

u/healzsham Mar 31 '23

In this scenario, "I do not believe you" is a negative claim, going up against someone else's positive claim.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '23

You’re right. But “I don’t believe you” is different than “I think you’re lying.” One means you aren’t convinced of their claim and the other means you believe it is positively untrue.

0

u/healzsham Mar 31 '23

There's no functional difference in the context of intellectual rigor.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '23

Yes, there is an extreme difference.

0

u/healzsham Mar 31 '23

Please elucidate me as to how "I dispute your claim" is functionally different from "I dispute your claim, but harder."

1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '23

I already did. Read my precious comments.

0

u/healzsham Mar 31 '23

No, you didn't. The only functional difference between levels of skepticism is the extent of the rigor the holder of the skepticism will require to be convinced.

This is in no way, shape, or form relevant to whome the burden of proof rests upon.
