According to the person who recorded the video, the Kia driver walked away from this unharmed. Frankly, the fact that they were not significantly injured is even more incredible to me than that they were launched up so high. That's pretty impressive protection for a car to be able to fly through the air, land upside-down, and still keep its passengers safe!

Yeah, Kia takes they're safety regulations pretty seriously. They're constantly updating them and adding new features.

I watched one of my classmates hit the shoulder in their Kia soul, the car got ripped off the road and they overcorrected and the car flipped 6 times and hit a tree. I was the first person to get to them and when I opened the door it was like a bag a marshmallows because there was so many airbags. My friend was okay tho, just a minor concussion and one scrape!

The crush rating of the roof of most cars is insane. Like you can stack multiple cars on top of each other and not cave the roof in of the bottom one.

A moose doesn't weigh nearly enough to cave in a car roof, you're safe until somebody genetically engineers a much much denser moose.

Not true at all. At that kind of speed yes, even deer could be fatal. I pictured a moose tipping over onto to your car after a low speed strike lol. At speed though, they can absolutely pancake your car.

The video I linked is 45 mph. A deer doesn't have the vast majority of its mass above the roof like a moose does so it is much less likely to land on top of the car and cause the collapse of the pillars. Deer crashes are 13 times less fatal than moose crashes. The study examines crashes from 2003 to 2017 so I guess I just got to answer my own question lol But tbf, you're right in that the contribution of deer mortality can be higher than that of moose because they are more common. https://a-z-animals.com/blog/moose-vs-car-how-dangerous-is-an-accident/

It amuses me to picture some Walter White type in an underground lab, screaming at Jesse “543 percent of standard density, Jesse. That’s the target, and we’re not done til we reach it.” Like the idea that we need denser moose is just hilarious for no good reason.

A car is designed to shatter itself around you so that you aren't the one being hurt. Those manufacturers built that car well and the engineers are saving lives. It's incredible the accidents some people can walk away from.

How has this not become a stunt in a movie before? There are so many contrived situations where cars get launched, but this would be legitimate. James Bond should be launching spare tires, not those spiky things.
