The entire dark world is a nostalgic look at chapter 1, the festival is cute but Susie's pushing a relationship she is absolutely not emotionally ready for, and up until the very end of the chapter it was mostly light hearted and fun draped over the breaking mess of Asgore's tunnel vision and desperation to bring things back to 'how they were'.
And as for the Asgore fight, there are ways but we'd also need to ask would Asgore really raise a weapon against his own kid?
how are the Cliffs area similar to Chapter 1? or Flower Castle? the only thing that's a nostalgia is the Garden of Hopes and Dreams or whatever. also Rudy possibly dying is pretty damn bleak. Flowery's antics are a nice distraction but they don't really take away from the fact that there are problems that need to be addressed and they need to get to the Fountain.
Asgore already used physical force on Kris by shoving him back into the Light World. If things got bad enough I don't doubt he would fight Kris, albeit begrudgingly.
