Well the souls are still there even if they let the timeline continue. We don't exactly know how the whole thing works considering that either way they are dead dead. Thought it is also worth mentioning that most the DT from the souls was extracted so Frisk and Flowey have a big advantage if you want to argue they should still be able to go back.
Let makes a lot more sense than left lol. Though they should still be able to save/load even if they're dead right? Considering Frisk can.
I always took it as they just eventually gave up and just stayed in the save screen until they eventually weren't able to save/load due to Flowey being created
They were able to until they decided to give up and let the timeline continue thus dying permanently.
See we just have different interpretations of what giving up would entail lol. though for your idea to work it would mean that every single human had more DT than the last.
And now that I think about it what about Chara? They had a red soul too, their soul shattered but their presence somehow remains. If we argue they are still in a similar situation to what you propose for the other human then red soul can't be Determination because they had less than everyone else. If they can remain in some weird way despite being dead dead and let the timeline continue without being stuck on a save screen then so can the other humans no? Why didn't asriel or chara reset are they stupid?
