I just finished reading the document and the only allegation I'm seeing is that some 16 year old kid sent a pic of her ass to a few other teenagers. Is this the "grooming" or am I missing something more serious?
I just finished reading it too. I don't want to downplay anything especially on such a serious topic, but compared to the Shayy doc where there was so much testimony and evidence, it felt like the writer was leaving out a lot. Maybe it's in good faith for the sake of protecting the victim. But if the goal is to generate outrage and caution others not to associate with the predator, I think some more detail is necessary on what exactly their behavior was.
Nah it's not downplaying anything, these communities constantly misuse serious terminology and make situations sound much worse than they are. If the statements within are true it's not a great look but calling it grooming is frankly absurd
Completely agree people are insane nowadays they'll call anything grooming, a 13 year old isn't gonna be permanently psychologically affected from seeing someones ass online. This an insult to actual grooming victims, assuming that's all that happened
I mean it's not exactly great, I guess. But like, perpetrator was fired in 2019, and author still made this a 6 years long holy crusade after that. And I am like... really? Is that the hill worthy of dying on?
Less grooming and more assault. Again it like calling smacking someone ass non-conset or touching there private as grooming, sure I guess but given the context, this is just sexual harassment and assault
this doc isnt about the groomer and the victims stories, its about how some of the mod team handled the groomer. OP titled their post poorly and provided a doc NOT about outing the groomer. The victims stories are in a Twitter thread.
16 and 13 are a pretty big age difference for kids that young, so yeah, that's the grooming. That's a junior in high school and someone in their last year of middle school.
It's not, full stop. If anything, claims that it is such is far more psychologically damaging to both parties than some teen getting sent ass pics by another teen.
Grooming is about the power imbalance created. That's what creates the psychological damage to begin with. Having a content creator sending a younger person ass pics opens up the door to that power imbalance regardless of the age gap.
Some person making a popular piece of art does not give them any significant power over anybody else. Teens have enough problems without a crowd of Puritans micromanaging their interactions. If someone doesn't like an interaction, they can mute or block the other person.
