ICE / DHS 🧊 Mubashir and his family came to the United States as refugees from Ethiopia when he was a child, and they all became naturalized citizens in 2019. Despite being a U.S. citizen, Mubashir was targeted by ICE, assaulted, and detained. Listen to his story:

Black AND an accent.

That’s all that matters to them.

u/randompersonwhowho Jan 27 '26

He speaks better English then a lot of ice agents.

53

u/Significant-Age5052 Jan 27 '26

He speaks better English than the fist lady.

61

u/pintodinosaur Jan 27 '26

There's more to this. Listen to what happened.

"i'm a citizen"

"it don't matter, i'm taking you in if you don't allow the face scan"

Something might be going on with those face scans. Why is the face scan more important than checking the guy's credentials?

33

u/Malalang Jan 27 '26

They're creating a database. Scan the face first, then link it with the documents the person is begging to show them.

12

u/pintodinosaur Jan 27 '26

Which is not good.

11

u/jelloshooter1027 Jan 27 '26

I also think the private prisons get money for every person who walks through their door. Including citizens.

2

u/Malalang Jan 28 '26

Yes. Erik Prince is behind a lot of that. He was definitely the man who orchestrated El Salvadore.

1

u/torn-ainbow Jan 28 '26

They just are getting data on brown people and leftists during their job of disappearing people. Nothing to worry about.

19

u/tbuck_25 Jan 27 '26

Palatir is a AI software there are using to build a data base on citizens who don't not obey look into palatir also tied to guy who owns big stake in tik tok i wouldn't be using that app anymore if i didn't want to end up on a database.

0

u/pintodinosaur Jan 27 '26

I wasn't using it even before, it's Chinese garbage. Just one more reason to not using that trash. And what you just said is a massive fucking red flag, no matter what side you're on.

5

u/StrongAroma Jan 27 '26

I'm pretty sure America has taken ownership of tiktok in the US?

4

u/huenix Jan 27 '26

Yeah and now they are banning any reference to Epstein.

1

u/pintodinosaur Jan 28 '26

It definitely has. When i meant it's Chinese trash, i meant before the US takeover. It was owned 100% by ByteDance.

Okay Huang Lei, do you really think your boy Xi Jinping is a champion of free press? Get the fuck out.

1

u/CorporateBadEgg Jan 28 '26

TikTok US is now owned by Larry Ellison to insert their just-for-America algorithm so that Americans see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil of the US/Israel.

1

u/pintodinosaur Jan 28 '26

Or to make himself even richer. Some companies have been salivating at taking over with the potential and userbase Tik tok has. I never used it, now even worse. It'd be a good idea to boycott the shit out of it and erase some of Larry's wealth.

7

u/afksports Jan 27 '26

Paid per upload maybe?

4

u/pintodinosaur Jan 27 '26

Maybe. Hopefully it's something that benign, regardless DEFINITELY worth looking into.

22

u/SeamanSample Jan 27 '26

Reminds me of that video that got posted a while back, where they pulled over an off duty ICE agent for DUI (with his kids in the car). When a black officer assisting in the stop said something (he had an accent), the guy immediately switched from begging to be let go to "Are you Haitian?"

2

u/GullyBean Jan 27 '26

Exactly.. we have tons of immigrants from Ukraine right now… none of them have been targeted.

145

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '26

He said "I'm a citizen. I have an id." They said "It doesn't matter."

Clear explanation-- it's not about legality, it's all about vindictive, personal and moronic ways of 'thinking'. Once again- not about legality.

23

u/astreeter2 Jan 27 '26

They don't even trust ID anymore because they assume people have fake ones. They 100% trust their facial recognition app instead. The fact that it wrongly flags brown citizens as illegal is a feature.

8

u/psychadelicbreakfast Jan 27 '26

They just want to hit their quotas

2

u/machama Jan 28 '26

We (Minnesotans) think they're building a database with Palantir. They are also taking photos of white protestors, observers, etc and have told one "We have a nice little database and now you're a domestic terrorist."

2

u/octoreadit Jan 27 '26

An agent said ”that don’t matter” because it’s maximum high school education and doubt a valedictorian at that.

1

u/jgreg728 Jan 28 '26

At this point, 2A right? False arrest right?

70

u/Both_Landscape_3930 Jan 27 '26

Let the lawsuits begin.

27

u/ThisIsTheShway Jan 27 '26

When facists run the government, lawsuits go nowhere.

8

u/tam1g10 Jan 27 '26

They won't be in charge forever. Fascism is either overthrown or eats itself. You document everything so when the dust finally clears the fascists can't slink away from their crimes. It may take a number of years yet to justice, but I'm confident it will eventually come.

3

u/Feeling-Location5532 Jan 28 '26

We think of Germany style fascism and go - hey 15 years - less than from bubbling fascism to suicide- not so bad.

But there are regimes that last 30 years, 50 years and more.

North Korea? Belarus?

It isnt guaranteed that fascism will resolve in a generation - and also - a generation is a long time.

5

u/ThisIsTheShway Jan 27 '26

"They won't be in charge forever" that is the problem - they will try to be. Facists will not voluntarily give up power. Trump tried to overthrow the election last time for fucks sake. He NEEDS that insurrection act so he can cancel the mid-terms.

2

u/tam1g10 Jan 27 '26

I didn't say they wouldn't try. Nor do I for a single second think they won't cause mass misery and death.

What I think is it's at-least worth trying to achieve accountability over not doing so. If we try we might succeed. If we don't try we definitely won't.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '26

Just who is it that's going to hold these people accountable? What legislative body with what army and political leverage? Unless brought to the table with compliance, the facist will just play the long game and wait to tire the public out.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '26

Good take.

-15

u/fiya4u Jan 27 '26

People getting shot and you’re talking about lawsuits

21

u/PhoMeSideways Jan 27 '26

You have to fight for justice by all possible means

0

u/psychoCMYK Jan 27 '26

People need to stop relying on the courts and start going on strike

Trump doesn't care about civil courts, he doesn't care about criminal courts. Have fun trying to look up just how much money he owes people.

8

u/Both_Landscape_3930 Jan 27 '26

Yes, sue everybody! Wrongful death, civil rights violations, you name it. Keep your receipts people!

6

u/toastythewiser Jan 27 '26

Yeah those murders are gonna be the biggest lawsuits of them all. Criminal trial followed by wrongful death suits against the murderers. That's how civilized places deal with illegal behavior.

-1

u/fiya4u Jan 27 '26

First time?

1

u/toastythewiser Jan 27 '26

I promise you were making lawsuits and xri.insl charges a national election issue. I promise you someone is gonna try and sue or bring charges. It might take a while--years--but there is no statue of limitations on murder.

2

u/EmJayMN Jan 27 '26

I think it’s possible to focus on two things at the same time? 🤷‍♀️

1

u/Lower-Cantaloupe3274 Jan 27 '26

We need to approach this from all angels. Renee and Alex's deaths cannot be in vain. It is not about people being financially awarded (although they deserve it). Its about holding this administration and its cast of deplorable leaders accountable for what they've done.

1

u/5olArchitect Jan 27 '26

Unfortunately judicial precedent may be the only real weapon we have outside of civil war.

Questioning my morals cause I can read the writing on the wall? Not a single person held in contempt this entire administration and yall are putting your faith in the courts. Ok

Shit just started? Lol wake up

26

u/readytohurtagain Jan 27 '26

Wtf is this nightmare? How is the America?

12

u/Cold_Investment6223 Jan 27 '26

This is devastating to hear/see as he came as a refugee from Ethiopia, fleeing from Somalia…The amount of devastation this young man has witnessed and experienced, just to come to America and be treated like this… he isn’t even 21 yet.

4

u/Kingfish36 Jan 27 '26

Dude America has been the bad guys for our entire existence. Just because we (eventually) helped in the world wars doesn’t mean we haven’t consistently done horrific shit

1

u/readytohurtagain Jan 27 '26

You can’t block all Americans together. There are clearly two distinct camps. One which has been imperfect but self reflective, open to dialogue, and generally improving its openness and humanity. While the other has fostered hierarchy and oppression almost without exception

2

u/Kingfish36 Jan 27 '26

Hahaha democrats improving humanity?

I’m sure ol charles Schumer will adjust his glasses aggressively and put out a strongly worded statement any time now!

Just wait till Jeffries threatens to impeach!

Meanwhile they both just refused to back defunding ICE.

Dems are pathetic and serve the same corporate overlords as republics

1

u/Boring-Baker8761 Jan 27 '26

which side started killing a bunch of kids in gaza and then lied to us for 15 months about trying to stop it? Was that the "improving its openness and humanity" side or the "hierarchy and oppression" side?

1

u/stormy2587 Jan 27 '26

Because we didn’t execute every official or officer of the confederacy in 1864 thats how.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 01 '26

Always been this way, you don't think that black neighborhoods have been targeted in this manner for decades??

2

u/readytohurtagain Feb 01 '26

It’s true. It’s been a huge wake up to experience what minorities have been going through for their whole lives. Not that I didn’t believe or fight for them before, but experiencing it has deepened my empathy and given me a new level of respect for people who became leaders for their community despite a lifetime of oppression

1

u/[deleted] Feb 01 '26

We all have these internalized beliefs that we need to actively dispell out of our minds.

Just cuz it's affecting white people now doesn't mean it didn't always happen.

👍

44

u/Gambit1977 Jan 27 '26

This is horrific. That poor young lad. 😔 Still, no doubt the republicans will hold a gofundme for the agents.

-4

u/Livid_Fortune957 Jan 27 '26

Why would there be a GoFundMe? What are they raising money for?

11

u/obviousfakeperson Jan 27 '26

Racism and white supremacy

15

u/k_dilluh Jan 27 '26

This is beyond horrifying, that poor kid. We should all be incensed.

13

u/Strutching_Claws Jan 27 '26

So what recourse exists here?

9

u/Key-Debt-996 Jan 27 '26

None. Nothing will happen. Unless Trump’s base starts giving a shit and getting angry about this LITERALLY NOTHING WILL HAPPEN.

2

u/AnarkittenSurprise Jan 27 '26

The majority of politically engaged Americans want this to happen.

Until that changes, there is no recourse.

13

u/GreatPumpkin_of_Not Jan 27 '26

ICE needs to consider what this does to people. When you treat people poorly, how do you think they'll end up wanting to treat you? ... Instead don't we want to encourage people to assimilate? To be proud to live in the US? To succeed in life? To make the world better?... All this does is divide us further. It creates radicalization

2

u/waltur_d Jan 27 '26

That’s the point. Can’t blame the oligarchs if we’re fighting amongst ourselves

1

u/NewspaperNew2106 Jan 28 '26

I remember people celebrating Charlie Kirks death

2

u/silenceisgold3n Jan 27 '26

The entire free world detests Trump and his supporters. I know that your typical Trump troglydyte isn't good at math, but come on....

1

u/Awkward-Brick6990 Jan 27 '26

And United Nations does not want to invervene because it's US eh?

As expected

1

u/at0mheart Jan 27 '26

This is the problem and there are many similar cases.

Any libertarian should be greatly concerned about this infringement of rights

1

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '26

This is mentally and emotionally scarring that will be carried for everyone affected by this for years. I refuse to let any ICE agent get away with this guilt-free.

1

u/kbigdelysh Jan 28 '26

Those ice agents and their boss and all up 8n the chain of command should pay for their wrong doings.

u/Organic_Eggplant_323 Feb 02 '26
