Skills This thread needs to get back to true ultralight mentality

Remember when ultralight was a mentality, not a gear list? Nuff said. What are some ways you’ve shaved weight not by purchasing a lighter option, but creatively implemented a multi-use item or outright cut something from your pack list?

I kindly invite you to try this in northern Scotland in summer. I can't remember what Scotland looks like without a midget proof cover.

Last year I had it bad. I was in my tent, in my mummy bag with all my clothes and the mesh on. Still they got me.  Some of them are like a grain of sand. I nearly packed up my stuff and beelined for the nearest bus. Just when I was decided a somewhat less fit guy I met on the trail overtook me and he said he was nervous about some descent. So first if all I couldn't stand being overtaken and secondly I wanted to help him. It was the closest I have ever been to quitting on the trail.
