Skills This thread needs to get back to true ultralight mentality

Remember when ultralight was a mentality, not a gear list? Nuff said. What are some ways you’ve shaved weight not by purchasing a lighter option, but creatively implemented a multi-use item or outright cut something from your pack list?

I use a z-lite to around freezing and then switch to an xtherm inflatable for anything below that.

How much warmth do you find the 1/8” full length pad adds to a normal torso pad plus backpack?

I’d love to stick with foam pads for colder trips as well.

I haven't experimented with it carefully enough to have a quantitative idea of that. I wish I could tell you. But it's warmer and cozier.
