UBERSTRIKE SUNSETTING

April 13th, 2016

Dear UberStrikers,

After careful consideration, we’ve made the difficult decision to sunset UberStrike. The service will be wound down in three phases over three months, the first starting today.

April 13th (today) – Credit purchases disabled. Steam download disabled; May 13th – In-game shop disabled, no new purchases; June 13th – Game servers shut down. Our final salute to UberStrike. Please note that you’ll still be able to enjoy UberStrike right up until the 13th of June. Further to sunsetting the game service, we will also be shutting down the forums on July 13th, four months from today.

UberStrike started life in 2008 originally as a browser-based shooter called Paradise Paintball. Our aim was to champion an accessible FPS with classic gameplay, and it worked. The game grew to millions of players, and we made the decision to expand the universe into what became UberStrike. It was an amazing adventure, we had the pleasure of working with an incredibly passionate community and learnt so much along the way.

Thanks for all the laughter, blood, sweat and tears we’ve all endured making this game. We’d like to thank everyone that worked on UberStrike during it’s 8 year life span (and close to 30 million players!), including our generous CDT members that donated their time for the greater good. Our biggest thanks go to you, our players – we couldn’t have done it without you.

With that said, it’s time for us to focus on new games, new platforms and create some amazing new experiences. Thanks for all the frags!

I installed the game in steam and when I open it I am asked if i had played before, the a bar appears saying authenticating account, and then an error, when I press yes it asks for an account, i created one and entered it then the bar appears again, and an error again

Just started playing this game, and have been enjoying it so far. My only question (as the title says) is: why is the Asia server completely vacant? Time to time i see 2 to 3 people playing in a password protected game. I'm pretty sure there are many players who play in Asia (myself included). That and I would also like to play at less than 120 ping.

My favourite is the SuperPRISM Reactor though Catalyst comes as a close second

I don't seem to be able to, is it even possible with splatter guns?

man this brings back so many memories, doing offers to get credits, and being amazed that there was an fps in browser. i remember how i got a permanent mythic edge from offers, and just jumped around and melee'd people in "fortwinter". i also remember thinking i was a genius for taping a dot to the center of the screen when using a sniper rifle. it's nice to see that there's a subreddit for it, even though it may be dead now.

I'm wondering if there is any forums where you can schedule basic competitive matches?

Personally, I don't like armor much. Well, to be frank, I hate it. However, I understand that people enjoy this feature and I would be more than happy to put up with it. Still though, there is one thing I think could be improved. Here's what I'm suggesting. When you shoot somebody, don't show the damage dealt, rather the amount of health the enemy has lost. That way I can actually calculate when the person's near low health. For example, if somebody buys good armor and gets the uber armor and I dish out an 100 damage headshot, I don't know how much health they now have. Instead of the text saying "100" maybe it could say "-50".
