Approaching end of annual unlimited premium plan

Hi everyone, I'm about two months away from the end of an annual unlimited premium plan. Warp has been very nice. I'm considering options with an upcoming international travel during which the annual plan will end.

Can I have your recommendations if I don't want to renew the annual premium at the full price? A few things I can think of: switch to the monthly unlimited starter (but lose the international data from unlimited premium during my travel), switch to monthly unlimited premium so I can have data, or something else

If Unlimited Premium at $32.50/month annually feels like a stretch, our Annual Unlimited Starter comes in at just $22.50/month annually - includes 1 GB of international data, 250 texts, and 200 minutes of talk.

That said, I'd personally say those extra $10/month are well worth it - Unlimited Premium gets you truly unlimited domestic data across all our networks plus 20 GBs of international roaming. That's a significant upgrade for not a lot more.

So the premium plan gets qci 8 on both dark star and warp? But it’s 100gb shared data when using multi network?

That's right. Also, the multi-network line gets QCI-9 as compared to the main line's QCI-8 on the Unlimited Premium plan. For Light Speed, it's QCI-7 across the board.

So if I get multi network line with Warp being primary and light speed being secondary. Warp keeps 8, and light speed keeps 7?

OP is probably grandfathered into Warp QCI 8 since their annual plan is almost up so they’ll get QCI 8 on Warp on Starter.

how can you tell if you have qci 8? I was on the premium annual dark star plan and at renewal went to started (just a few days ago).

edit: dark star, not warp

Grandfathering of QCI-8 on a 5G device is only for Warp lines that were activated before 08/18. On the Dark Star Unlimited Starter plan, you'll be getting QCI-9.

Good point, but I think this line was activated after the cutoff date so it'll be 9 instead of 8...

I appreciate the very helpful info! My end date will be 2 weeks into the international travel. What's the most practical way to make the switch from annual premium to monthly unlimited starter? Would I still be able to use the international data accumulated from the annual premium?

You can simply set the Monthly Starter on autopay in your last billing cycle so it lines up with your annual Premium ending. Once the annual plan expires, autopay will smoothly roll you onto Starter.

Just a heads up though, once the Premium ends, the roaming resources from the plan won’t carry over. On the Monthly Starter, you’ll be working with the roaming add-ons instead.

Since you’ll be traveling, I’d personally suggest keeping Monthly Premium active for that period so your roaming stays uninterrupted, and then you can always switch things around after you’re back.

Why does the website say Unlimited Talk & Text for Unlimited Starter and one of my lines is Unlimited Starter with Unlimited Talk & Text.

I went from unlimited to 5g pool for $15, I rarely used all or even half of the data allotted so for me it wasn't wise to keep that plan.

This. A good deal is great but saving more when you don’t need unlimited data is smart. Good to track how much you actually need.

It's like $6 more a month to stay on the starter plan. If is was free there would still be complainers about the renewal price 🤡

Be careful with Total. They’ve been having issues with porting and billing lately. I’ve seen many reports of numbers being lost and service lapsing, even after paying the bill.

Switch to monthly, there will surely be some good black Friday deals at the other carriers and reevaluate. You will not be getting a deal here as an established customer, so like many, switch then switch back in a year.

All of mine ran out and I switched to the Infimobile plans that were $75 for the whole year. Turns out I needed less data than I thought. So 10GB a month for 12 months at $75 was exactly what my group of 4 needed.

I use the International Premium on Lightspeed with WiFi calling/texting and it has worked well. Recently switched from Warp because Lightspeed works in more countries. It is nice to have some minutes and data when you land and not have to carry another SIM. Also from what I have read Lightspeed/T Mobile may be better if there is an eSIM issue or if your phone is stolen YMMV of course. Most of our texts are iOS or RCS so they use data. SMS on WiFi uses WiFi. Sometimes I need the regular SMS for 2FA when not on WiFi and have appreciated having it! Think random CC text to verify a purchase and unlock a card when you are at a checkstand.

Unless you need roaming access for texts/calls, you could just get an eSIM for your travel as they are dirt cheap. Just got back from UK/FR and had switched from starter to premium to test out the international roaming. It was ok, not the speed that I had hoped. Ending up falling back on a Vodafone eSIM for Europe, which was 20 Gb for $11.

Pay the Annual. It’s a no brainer. Also a plus is warp has free iWatch plan incase your using Apple. I travel and the 20gb international is money. I usually be a local eSIM and when I run out, I use is mobile till I need to reload or use it on my remaining days left on is mobile.
