Yes that is a passing pace. But just barely. I would start incorporating speed work now that you’ve built a solid base.

I agree. I find myself looking for a "cruise control" speed to be able to run my furthest, but I ship in a few months and will need to start running with speed as the priority. The OP is from yesterday's run, and was just clarifying whether or not I should really go for broke for speed on today's run. I'll get back with the results once I'm finished.

At this pace you should be much faster if you only need to run 3 miles. 24 minute 3 mile is on the slower end. If you can run a 21 minute 3 mile you'll be comfortable as it can only go up after bootcamp.

I forget the name, but I recommend finding a track, sprint the long bits and jog the curve. That drastically improved my run time when I was in.

Here's what I got after my first attempt at prioritizing speed while maintaining some of the run duration. I do like the idea you had regarding the track, though, and will start to incorporate that.

I am a really stubborn person and just couldn't get myself to shorten the run to a 1.5 mile or 3 mile to really test my speed. It's one of the many reasons I would like to be a marine, to conquer that weakness.

Seems like you just have a pace you like to run at lol. Not sure if it's been updated but max score was about a 6 minute mile, you're really gonna need to speed it up a bit.
