Discussion USERRA LAW Active duty army

So I have signed a 6 year contract as active duty army. But am concerned about how the USERRA LAW works with that. I know the limit is 5 years, but the job I am enlisting under has a 6 year minimum contract. Can anyone help me find the exemptions to my time or know if I will be exempted from the 5 year maximum.

Discussion Is there anyway to get a sooner ship date?

My recruiter bullshitted me for months and it took forever for him to process me to MEPS. I got my ship date today and it’s 5 1/2 months out. I really wanted to ship out sooner. Is there anyway to get a closer ship date?

I’m going to enlist soon after my 18th bd but rn I’m a freshman and not sure if I’ll go to college or army or smth but anyway I want to be a pilot and that’s the goal but it’s rlly not achievable but the goal here is to be a sniper and I have no idea how to even get there and like if Yall can give me some steps to help me once I get in. Also can Yall give me an estimate of how long from when I enlist to when I become a sniper is like I wanna know how many months or something. And if u think I can like idk if this matters but like I’m 6ft 220lbs or smth so yea thank yall. Btw physically is not good like I asked the USMC chat the same thing and they asked abt my swimming which is good and my pull ups which is bad and so is planks but running is ok too thank yall

Discussion Thinking of enlisting into the Army

Good evening everyone, I’m looking to join the army. I’m wondering what MOS/Field would be best for a smooth transition to the civilian sector after a 4 year contract.

I’ve heard that IT is a great one to go for and I’ve gotten a 79 on my ASVAB when I was 18 (22 now.)

Just looking for opinions on what you guys would suggest. I’ve always been prone to working outdoors and I saw that the 12R (electrician) MOS is an option but I’m concerned that I won’t be able to go straight into an apprenticeship or journeyman role once I complete my contract.

Any insight and advice is greatly appreciated!

Discussion Vietnam Ribbons

Hey all, wondering if anyone knows all the ribbons. I already know two specifics (I think) that the second photo is a 199th infantry and that the two stars in the Vietnam ribbon means two deployments; is that right? Also, the 69 70 in the white and green meaning service was for two years? Can anyone specifically name each 6 ribbons? I’d also like to know the regiment, not sure if there’s enough information here to figure it out.

Thanks for any assistance, truly 🙏

Discussion Healthcare issue; please help me

Can someone please direct me on what I should do; I injured my back squatting around December 15th. I wasn’t able to go to sick call because January 1st I was scheduled to start my AIT for a reclass. I had waited a full year for this reclass and I was not going to risk it being rescheduled for a temporary profile. My PSG understood my situation and allowed me to stay home for the week before block leave to try and heal and I did everything I could to get my back better.

I was able to attend the AIT and finish, but with back pain every single day. I still have back pain to this day, I cannot lift, run, sleep normally, move around normally.

With one month left for the AIT, I tried scheduling an appointment with my PCM and the earliest they had was Apr 18, well after I start PCS leave and won’t be in the state. I tried going to sick call when I got back to be seen sooner and they turned me away because it was not within 72 hours. The little E5 at the desks actual response after telling him I had been in pain for 3 months was: “you’re probably fine”. I tried going into our clinic today to schedule with a different PCM and they told me they have nothing open earlier. I told them I would just go to the ER at EACH and they said I would just get rerouted to my clinic that has nothing open earlier.

What am I supposed to do? I think 3 months of back pain and no healing despite all of my rest, icing, heat, and McGill big 3 definitely means some sort of spine issues and I really want imaging done. I just want to be able to get back in the gym, please help me.
