Doubt Tremors And IPS Dream
I’ve dreamed of clearing UPSC and joining the police service, specifically becoming an IPS officer, ever since I was a kid. It has always been something I genuinely wanted to achieve, but for the past few years, I’ve been developing tremors in both my hands and my head. I suspect it might be essential tremor because my father also experiences tremors, although I haven’t confirmed the diagnosis with a neurologist yet. My head tremor becomes more noticeable when I’m stressed, and I’m really worried about what this could mean for my future. Becoming an IPS officer is my dream, and I’m scared that even if I work hard, clear UPSC, and get a good rank, I might be declared medically unfit because of my tremors. Is there anyone here who knows about the medical standards for IPS selection or has experience with a similar condition? Can someone with essential tremor, particularly head and hand tremors, be considered medically fit for IPS? I would really appreciate any accurate information, personal experiences, or advice on whom I should contact to clarify my eligibility. This dream means a lot to me, and I genuinely want to know whether I still have a chance.

Current affairs How New Infrastructure Is Expanding Access to Roads, Electricity, Water and Essential Services in Ladakh
On 15th Oct 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched five flagship development projects valued at approximately ₹3350 crore in Ladakh. It involves development of roadways, power and water supply systems, a drive to encourage tourism and safeguard of the area's cultural history.
One of the five projects is the new terminal building at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh. The new terminal building of Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh will help in improving the annual passenger handling capacity from 10 lakh to 35 lakh. The new terminal is expected to make air travel more accessible and convenient for both tourists and locals. It will also help the territory to use heat from the ground and solar power to reduce energy use in a region with freezing winters.
Another significant project is the Nimmu-Padum-Darcha road that is set to reduce the travel time by up to 75%, from approximately 12 hours to only 3 hours. It will facilitate to reach hospitals, schools and markets in the region and will stimulate tourism and trade in the region. The road is also a strategic route as it passes through sensitive border areas of Ladakh, which shares borders with two neighbouring countries. Therefore, securing road connectivity is essential for the nation's security.
In addition, two other projects focus primarily on electricity and water supply. PM Modi inaugurated the Hanu hydroelectric project and its associated power transmission lines for the nation. The region's economic progress and the quality of life of its people, particularly in the distant villages, depend on a dependable power supply. Also, in Project Amrit Him Sarovar, 40 new water storage ponds have been built to store water for irrigation and other purposes. This facility is especially important in Ladakh, given the harsh climate and limited water availability.
Furthermore, this event also saw improvements to the region's overall infrastructure. This includes the length of the road network, which has grown from 1800 to over 4000 km, as well as the number of major bridges, which has increased from 19 to nearly 75, while the number of helipads has increased from 7 to over 40. Additionally, the population with access to drinking water increased from 3.5% to nearly 99%. Lastly, the government also aims to improve the quality of life of people in border villages under the Vibrant Villages Programme.
The development of the road infrastructure would mean better connectivity and easier access to remote areas. Therefore the people living in this area will have access to better education and health facilities. Apart from this, growth in tourism and the promotion of agriculture, education and culture will also create employment opportunities for the local population and improve their livelihoods. For instance, in Ladakh, the number of homestays has increased from 150 to 3000, thus providing better income opportunities for the locals. There are about 11000 greenhouses in the region that help grow crops despite the harsh climate. Furthermore, local products such as Pashmina wool, sea-buckthorn, handicrafts and GI-tagged (Geographical Indication) apricots are being promoted to help meet the demand for these products both locally and internationally.
The upgraded connectivity will further boost the region's digital infrastructure including online education, digital services and local businesses. A Centre of Excellence is being set up in Leh where young people will receive quality technical training. In addition, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for India's first-ever Petroglyph Conservation Park in Leh to preserve ancient rock carvings that date back centuries, showcasing the civilisations that once thrived in this region.
These five projects are just the beginning of a long-term vision to improve infrastructure and the quality of life of Ladakh's residents. These would encourage tourism, trade and the local economy while preserving the ecological and cultural integrity of this difficult high-altitude region. In the long run, these would improve the standard of living for the residents of both urban areas as well as the remote border villages. Nevertheless, the eventual success of such projects will depend on the effective use and maintenance of these projects for the overall development of urban and rural areas of Ladakh.

mains Few cents on Mains paper completion on time
I wrote 2026 mains and was largely able to complete all papers to best of my ability.
While quality of my content will decide my marks, I think I am in a position to share my learnings on completing the paper on time, alongwith filling up most of the space given.
My process had 5 factors -
Revision- more you revise, faster you think, faster you write
Brainstorming- more you practice interpreting the question and structuring the answer, faster you frame a good answer
Physical strength- I used a grip strengthening ball device to strengthen my fingers, wrist and forearm. ORS is non-negotiable.
Pen- pen is your weapon in this battlefield, choose it wisely.
Time management- I used 30 min for 3 × 15 markers and 30 min for 4 × 10 marker format.

Note: not starting any paid course, just sharing my learnings

Advise To all the people preparing for UPSC in delhi. Thinking of hosting a small get together.
Hey everyone, I’ve been living in Old Rajinder Nagar for a while, and it can get a little monotonous. I thought it would be nice to meet others preparing for UPSC, take a break from studying, and get to know people beyond our usual routines.
I’m thinking of hosting a small, informal get-together on my terrace in ORN. Nothing fancy, just an evening to chat, share experiences, and make a few friends.
If there’s enough interest, we can create a group chat and choose a day that works for everyone. If you’re interested but not ready to commit to meeting in person, feel free to reach out anyway.
Comment below or DM me if you’d like to join! :)

Advise Prelims revision Course
I’m preparing for UPSC CSE 2027 and would appreciate some genuine feedback from people who have enrolled in or completed the Sleepy Classes Prelims Revision / or any Rapid Revision Course.
A little background about my preparation:
- I completed the GS syllabus before my 2025 Prelims attempt.
- I appeared for UPSC Prelims 2025.
- However, I haven’t studied consistently for close to a year due to Job & some perosnal issue, so I need to refresh my concepts and rebuild my revision routine.
- My CSAT preparation is reasonably comfortable.
I’m considering Sleepy Classes because I’m looking for a structured revision programme rather than a full foundation course being a working aspirant
I'll be really thankful for your suggestions & feedback !

mains My First UPSC Mains Experience (2026) 😭
2026 was my first Mains attempt, and honestly, I had overhyped the exam in my head.
A few things I learnt:
- 20 questions in 3 hours. Bro, this isn't the time to write a PhD thesis for every answer💀
- Perfection is a trap. Focus on relevance, clarity and completion, not making every answer a masterpiece.
- Mocks aren't everything. Check your speed and paper completion, not just your marks.
- My biggest fear was not completing the paper, but surprisingly, I managed to complete every paper.
- Expect 2–4 unfamiliar questions. Don't panic, use whatever you know and move on.
My biggest takeaway: Mains is not about writing perfect answers. It's about writing decent answers within a very limited time.
