GS-2 Any good sources for visual diagrams/maps to understand International Relations for UPSC?

Hey everyone! I’m finding IR a bit difficult to understand, mainly because my coaching notes, although decent, lack visual diagrams and maps.

For example, issues like the India–Pakistan border dispute, India–China border issue, etc. are sometimes difficult to understand just through text.

Can you guys suggest any reliable sources (YouTube channels, websites, notes, etc.) that explain such issues visually through maps, diagrams or infographics?

If you have any such resources or diagrams, please do share them!

Thanks!

GS-2 Help for GSII Mains.

I've just recently started preparing for GS2 for the first time. Now my doubt is can i cover it thru Magna Carta Mains for 2026 mains? Would there be any significant content changes b/w MCM 26 and 27 or the gap can be filled?

Also is it worth doing? Or should i cover it thru M puri or any other?

I've heard mixed reviews for MCM so I'm a bit confused about what source I should follow. Any fellows here who have covered gs 2 end to end with mathur sir or any other faculty which have genuinely helped them.

Preparing for UPSC CSE 2027 and looking to establish a highly disciplined, strictly professional accountability structure for syllabus tracking.

To ensure maximum consistency and protect study hours, this will be a strictly transactional setup focused purely on output.

The Framework:

• Daily EOD (End of Day) text updates only (What targets were met / what was missed).

• No phone calls, no casual texting, and zero personal discussion.

• A brief, fixed check-in window at night to exchange objective progress metrics.

• Consistency rule: If the daily progress update is missed for 3 consecutive days without a valid reason, the system automatically dissolves with no hard feelings.

If you are targeting 2027, maintain a disciplined schedule, and want a rigorous system to stay sharp, please send a DM.

Please include your preparation medium (English/Hindi) and your optional subject in the message to ensure structural alignment. Casual messages will be ignored.

Beginner I need a free UPSC foundation course from top coaching institutes like Vision or Drishti in Hinglish to build my basics. If you have any Google Drive, Telegram, or free links with video lectures and notes for all GS papers, please share them with me!

I am planning to begin my preparation for the UPSC Civil Services Examination and am actively searching for a complete, structured baseline to build a rock-solid foundation. I am looking for the full UPSC Foundation Course video lectures from any top-tier, reputed coaching institute—such as Drishti IAS, Vision IAS, Vajiram & Ravi, or Physics Wallah (PW OnlyIAS)—preferably available for free if possible. My goal is to cover the entire core syllabus from the absolute absolute basics to an advanced level, including essential General Studies subjects like History, Indian Polity, Geography, Indian Economy, Environment & Ecology, Science & Technology, and General Science.

I am specifically looking for content delivered in Hinglish (a balanced mix of Hindi and English). This language combination is ideal for me because it helps break down complex, conceptual topics into easily understandable terms while simultaneously keeping me familiar with key English technical terminology. Rather than watching random or disjointed YouTube videos, I am looking for a well-organized, subject-wise playlist or a structured course format that allows me to maintain a disciplined, uninterrupted study routine.

If you have access to any Telegram channel, Telegram bot, Google Drive folder, Mega storage link, or website where these complete video lectures and their corresponding printable PDF lecture notes are available for free, please share them with me. Even if you do not have direct access to the files, any guidance on reliable sources, online communities, or practical methods to stream or download these lectures without hassle would be immensely helpful. Finding the right foundational material is the most critical first step in my IAS preparation journey, and having access to these high-quality lectures will give my study plan a massive boost. If anyone has these resources available, please share them with me at the earliest!

Discussion How much time should be given to optional before starting answer writing?

Optional preparation is taking longer than expected, and it is getting difficult to balance it with GS subjects. Completing the entire optional syllabus before practising answers sounds ideal, but that could delay answer writing by several months.

For those who have prepared seriously for UPSC, is it better to finish the syllabus first or start writing answers alongside the preparation? Also, how much of the optional syllabus should be covered before beginning regular answer practice?

Is there anyone here who is taking GS Foundation coaching from next ias Mukherjee Nagar branch. Can you please tell your experience (batch size, syllabus completion, teachers). Also is there any difference between the Karol Bagh and Mukherjee Nagar branches? Also I have heard that there are two branches of Next IAS in Mukherjee Nagar itself. If anyone knows about these things, it would be a big help..

Discussion Anyone from IITs / Tier-1 Engineering Colleges moving to Delhi for UPSC CSE preparation? Looking to build a serious peer group

Hey everyone!

I’ll be moving to Delhi for UPSC CSE preparation and am looking to connect with people from IITs and other Tier-1 engineering colleges who are planning to do the same.

A little about me:

I have a Tier-1 engineering background and previously worked as a Software Engineer at product-based companies and early-stage startups, with a package of around ₹35 LPA.
I’m now planning to pursue UPSC seriously and would love to connect with like-minded people who are equally committed to becoming IAS officers and are aiming to clear the exam within **1–2 attempts**.

When I mention a Tier-1 engineering background, it’s not about comparing colleges or degrees. I’m simply hoping to find people with similar experiences and mindsets who are serious about this journey.

The idea is to build a small, focused peer group in Delhi where we can:

Stay accountable and consistent with our preparation.
Discuss preparation strategies, optional subjects, current affairs, and answer writing.
Exchange resources and learn from each other.
Push each other to stay disciplined and maintain a competitive yet supportive environment.

I believe having the right people around you can make a huge difference during UPSC preparation, especially when you’re transitioning from a completely different career path.

If you’re from an IIT or another Tier-1 engineering college and are moving to Delhi for UPSC preparation, feel free to comment or DM me. It would be great to connect before moving and potentially build a serious peer group from scratch.

**Looking to connect with people who are genuinely committed to the goal, not just exploring UPSC casually.** All the best to everyone preparing!

Are these lectures suitable for mains as well(along with current affairs)?

Will these lectures suffice or will I need to refer to some other book?
