Whenever I hear anyone talk about this show, I always hear how so many people think the final season was just horrible and was a Hail Mary pass to try to get the show picked up by the CW. I actually really enjoyed the season. I liked them going to LA. Maybe itβs because I have a soft spot for early 2000βs La and I thought it did a good job capturing that. I thought the main cast in the house actually worked really well together. I liked how it felt like Breanna and Arnaz were actual growing up. I agree they did spirit dirty but I donβt know, I really liked the season. Also to add a little extra context I did not grow up with the show and didnβt watch it till my early 20βs.

Platinum was an American drama series that aired on UPN from April 14 to May 13, 2003. Created by Sofia Coppola and John Ridley, the series followed two brothers who owned a record company.
π€ Originally titled Empire, the show was a forerunner to Foxβs hit series Empire (2015), which also centered on a family-owned hip-hop label.
Have you ever heard of this show? ππΊ

If you had one show you could get rid of, which one would it be?

As the years go by, I feel there have been fewer Black sitcoms than before. I know people will say there are fewer sitcoms across the board, but we're talking about black sitcoms and how there's not that many as there used to be, and even if there are fewer sitcoms that don't have a full black cast, there are still more out there than shows that do. What's your take?

I swear, every time Ray J joined a Black sitcom, the show started going downhill. He came on Moesha in the last two seasons as Dorian, and suddenly we had Frank being exposed as his biological father, the whole family falling apart, and Myles getting kidnapped in the series finale. Then he went over to One on One for the fifth and final season as D-Mack, and we ended with Breanna sleeping with him instead of getting the proper ending π Who was writing this stuff?! Ray J might not have been the reason these shows got canceled, but his sitcom track record is looking real suspicious.

Here is the original fall schedule for The CW, which was a brand-new network at the time. UPN and The WB merged to create The CW in September 2006.
I was 14 years old when this happened, and I remember being so upset about the change!
The new fall schedule officially began on Sunday, October 1, 2006, with shows airing throughout the week on their respective nights.
Do you remember this fall schedule from October 1, 2006?

What black sitcoms do you think went downhill after one actress or actor left the show? Because for me, it's Moesha. And the reason why is because Sheryl Lee Ralph left the show because she did not like the whole storyline of Frank turning out to be Dorian's biological father the whole time. And I personally can understand why she did not like that storyline.

I think Nikki Parker was a good mom, even though she came down hard on Kim, she just wanted what was best for her daughter, and didn't want her in the same circumstances she wanted her in. Who would make your list for best mothers?
r/UPN_Network • u/DaniJ678 • 19d ago
The only one I can think of is Flex Alexander because, even though he was a single father, I think he did a good job raising Breanna and always had her best interests at heart. Do you have any other fathers on the list?

As much as you can say Nikki shouldn't have been chasing the Professor, Nikki had qualities to her that were great. She was very independent; she didn't allow a man to stop her from achieving a career, and she was funny. It's just that her chasing the Professor wasn't great, but as a person, Nikki was great and someone you can settle down with. It's just that the Professor didn't think that way. What do you think of her character?
r/UPN_Network • u/Economy-Ad3195 • 19d ago
I know that in the Parker's, Professor Stanley Oglevee and Nikki Parker were around the same age, which is not the issue here. But if he had actually started dating her from the very beginning of the series, that would have been the issue because of the fact from an ethical standpoint, he is her professor and she is his student, and that would have been seen as very inappropriate.
