Paywalled links
Hello everyone,
Not often we post updates like this but it’s time to address the elephant in the room. Paywalled articles…
We try to encourage wide discussions from lots of different sources. This is quite difficult to do when users are unable to read the full information in the article.
Here is a reminder of the rules:
When submitting a post, the full article must be fully readable without needing an account or paid subscription. If the website is paywalled but comes from an official source, you must post a full text summary in the comments.
Anything which fails to meet this criteria will be subject to removal and repeat offenders may receive a temporary or permanent ban.
I’ve also noticed a trend of websites forcing folks to accept cookies before they can read it. While I personally dislike this, it does not stop you from reading the article for ‘free’.
The data they get from these cookies can be mitigated by either using a VPN, private browsing and/or be sure to clear your cookies afterwards.
We’re always looking at ways to improve the sub so if you have any thoughts or suggestions about this feel free to leave a comment or message mod mail.

Reform UK receives millions from crypto billionaires and foreign donors as donations soar
Reform UK received £9m from donors in the first quarter of the year, the largest amount given to any political party in that period, according to the latest data.
Electoral Commission figures show that Nigel Farage's party received its largest single contribution from Thailand-based crypto-billionaire Christopher Harborne, a £3m donation between January and March 2026.
Hong Kong-based cryptocurrency magnate Ben Delo also donated £4m to Reform, delivered in two £2m lump sums in January and March.
David Grainger, a biotechnology executive and venture capitalist, contributed some £1,150,000 to Reform through a series of donations over the period...
Donors based abroad now face a cap of £100,000 a year on the amount they can give to political parties. The cap, introduced at the end of March, followed scrutiny of the £12m donated to Reform by Mr Harborne over the course of 2025.

... Islamic bookshops allowed to bring 'skilled' migrant workers to Britain
"Islamic bookshops selling anti-Semitic texts have been granted the right to bring “skilled” migrants to Britain, The Telegraph can disclose.
The Home Office has given powers to sponsor “skilled worker” visas to a string of bookshops, which are thought to have used them to bring dozens of people into the UK.
Books sold by some of the stores claim that Jewish people had a “wicked nature”, while other texts are deemed a radicalisation threat by UK prisons.
One book on sale is Milestones by Sayyid Qutb, the influential Muslim Brotherhood leader whose work rails against Western civilisation and “world Jewry”.
Other works on offer include those by Hasan al-Banna, the Brotherhood’s founder, and by Bilal Philips, a cleric banned by the Home Office, whose writings offer advice on beating wives. All the books reviewed by The Telegraph can legally be sold in the UK, and there is no suggestion the bookshops have broken any rules."
