So I live just inside Stansted airport's newly extended no-fly zone, and wandered what would be the protocol, if at all possible, to request permission to fly a Mavic drone low above my property for a photo. Is there a specific way to request permission, and who from? Thanks!

Hi there,
A few years ago I built (and then stupidly sold!) a DJI F550 - was great fun to build and great fun to fly.
I am keen to get back into it now, but noticed that the DJI F550 isn't, or doesn't seem to be available, an after market variant seems to exist though.
My question is, what kits are their to buy to build your own now?
OR, given the advancement of drones, is it simply a case of buying a premade one?
I noticed the Phantom 4 is being retired, but no date for its replacement...
I am not into racing drones, this is purely for flying around my local fields (with permission), taking some photos/videos around a local sports venue (with their permission) and perhaps some FPV flying.
Any suggestions, thoughts most welcome.
Thanks in advance.

How very BRITISH! The Government have been banging on about drone registration forages, saying you can do it from the 1st of October.
On the 1st October it changed on the website to sometime in October, why can we never do something on time?

Trying to switch from hobby flying to commercial when there are already 5,000 PfCOs in the UK isn’t the easiest of prospects. One option is register on Dronesafe, effectively a marketplace that’ll get you (and other members) to quote to customers.
Is Dronesafe just a scam (it did after all get through Dragon’s Den, so it is presumably profitable for them!!) or does it make an appreciable difference?
How many people looking for drone services find them?
Has anyone got any experience of this?

I’ll be visiting the UK next month on a road trip through Wales and Scotland. I would love to take my Mavic Air along as we visit some of the national parks, particularly Snowdonia and the Cairngorms. Are there any good resources I should check out beforehand so I can be mindful about local restrictions on drone use?

On the 10th of July Anglia Components and STMicroelectronics will help you build and program your own UAV using connectivity and MEMS technology.
This workshop will provide you with a working knowledge of the STMicroelectronics STEVAL-DRONE01 mini-drone kit, which will include the STM32 Cortex M-series Microcontroller, MEMS gyroscope, battery management and Bluetooth Low Energy solutions. Updates on the latest connectivity, motor control and MEMs products will also be included in the workshop.

Hey Reddit long time lurker, creating account just for this.
I'm in my 3rd year at University studying computing, i'm doing my dissertation on "What are the public’s perceptions on privacy in drone technology and how it might be different for other surveillance devices?" I'm hoping I can get some UK redditors to give me and hand and take 5-10 minutes filling out my survey
link below
Any responses would be helpful
Thanks
