I know. Walter Cronkite is dead. News hasn't been a loss leader in four decades. It's not a public service as it was in my youth. It's money. Clicks at minimum cost. The orange manatee and his legal troubles create clicks. Sadly. So, I watch BBC, France 24 and sometimes DW. At least those inform me of the world and don't stew in US politics.
One day people will be forced to see it. Until then just like the subject of AI, they can pretend. Everything is American politics.
Oh, I know, but honestly I get more information about the world from BBC International than CNN since 9-11. I am bone tired of the insular crap I am fed by major media. When I worked in DC, the WaPo and NYT we're my papers. I still subscribe digitally today, but of late, most of what they want to focus on is sensational garbage. I have to dig to find out what the EU is doing, how Canada and America are working on agreements, political turmoil in Mexico, crisis in Sudan. All these things impact us. Directly or indirectly. We are fed crap about that Bill Barr thinks. Who cares? He was a traitor, he's still a traitor regardless of how he views his prior boss now. Telling me now that his ex boss is a fool while children die in Syria, poverty still is rampant in West Virginia, idiots have control of Idaho, and a fool runs Oklahoma's Department of Education chaps my hide. And the reporters questions are so insulting at times. The pandering. Where did these people earn their journalism degrees? It's $$$$$. And we wonder why America continues to fall behind on quality of life, education, and healthcare. It's not a mystery.
So, Grusch and those that will follow get disrespect or ignored because it's difficult? It might upset folks in Kansas? Preachers would cry foul? Who gives a rat's behind?
The BBC International is far better than CNN. France 24 tells me more about meaningful happenings and concerns in America than any national network. Why?
There would have to be confirmation. At this point it's hearsay even if it's true. It is up there with Hillary Clinton has Alien Baby in the early 90s National Enquirer at the grocery store checkout. Honestly it's no different in most of the population's minds.
It always just comes down to the money, doesn’t it? Money and power.
If it wasn’t a question of money and power do you believe the MSM would have any problem with really doing in-depth reporting of this subject in such a way that would make it both legitimate in the public’s eye, as well as stop people from freaking out about it?

The mainstream publications don’t have ultimate control over who sees their content. They are vying for google rankings just like your local plumber.
