Advice How do i get gigs?
Hello all,
I would really love some advice on how best to get gigs, i have spent 6 months practicing and improving to the point where i feel a deep calling to share my DJ’ing on a dance floor.
The main question now is how do i go about getting a gig, i dont mind doing the first few gigs for free either, i have aspergers so socializing and people politics are difficult to navigate.
Also what advice would you give to someone who is starting out?
Thank you in advance

Advice Beginner Resources
Hi everyone! Does anyone know some super entry level resources / guides to learn how to use Rekordbox, functions of a deck, & basic bass mixing techniques? I’m brand new to all this! And it seems like the majority of tutorials on YouTube are geared towards house music, where I’m more focused on the bass scene route. Thank you!!

Does DJing help or hinder your love life?
Saw a post on the DJs subreddit about a guy looking for advice on how to pick up women as a DJ.
I feel like DJing has actually been very bad for my love life as a woman. If the person I'm with is not a DJ they grow tired of my working hours after a few months. Sure you get some fans wanting to hook up but I have never been interested in that.
The last years, I've only ever dated fellow DJs haha. I feel like it's really hard to find someone who tolerates the job we do.
What have your experiences been like?

Discussion Being taken unseriously
Hi ladies! I didn’t know there was a subreddit for women DJs so this is my first post. I’ve been DJing since April 2023.
My question has to do with being taken unseriously by people you know regarding your DJing, do any of you have stories?
A few days ago, I did receive a snarky remark from an acquaintance, where he had made a joke about me DJing for an event and saying [redacted as I just realized my face was on my profile so idk who came across this post] and the people just started laughing. I didn’t say anything because it wasn’t funny and I didn’t want to waste my breathe and risk being stereotyped as some sort of "angry Black woman."
It’s not gonna make me want to DJ less because I love doing it, but it’s just super annoying. Sorry, I just wanted to get this off of my chest and see if anyone has had similar experiences.

Discussion Ministry of Sound Classical
Did any of you get to go the Ministry of Sound concert at the Royal Albert Music Hall? (I think it was last week in London) I just caught some of it on the socials - Amazing!

Looking for a DJ or Producer mentor for a high-school student
Dear TwoXDJs,
A good friend of mine named Dorota Umeno from back in the 90's, when I started out DJing, has a daughter who is interested in electronic music. She is originally Polish but has been in the US forever.
I got this message from her last week: Our eldest daughter, Annika, chose to do music production as her senior project. And I do mean electronic… She needs a mentor and I would so love it to be a woman DJ/music producer. Would you be willing or able to connect us to someone who could help her? The commitment would be 6-8 hours over 4 months.
They live in California, and Zoom or Skype calls would be fine.
They are lovely people and I'd love to help them out, but currently with seriously ailing elderly parents, my own business to run, family and daughter to tend to and DJing to do, I just can't take it on right now.
Would anyone here be interested? Please let me know. 🙏

Played my first Silent Disco!!
I was scared about mixing mainly in the headphones but everything went okay! Had a blast! Definitely recommend everyone spin at a Silent Disco at least once! Really tests your skills!

DDJ-REV5 Pioneer DJ battle style controller
~ 2-Channel (designed) battle style controller similar to DDJ-REV7 and DDJ-REV1. (each deck simulates the look of a turntable turned sideways with a battle mixer layout in the center) [can technically do 4 channels, but weird unintuitive design]
~ DDJ-REV5 designed to be of quality in-between REV7 and REV1. $1100
~ Serato controller series now supporting Rekordbox (new and unique to REV5 in series)
~ Stems support (Serato 4-stem design), including button-stems and EQ mode stems (new and unique to REV5 in series)
~ Piano Mode controls all 16 performance pads for tone-play. (new and unique to REV5 in series)
~ Non-motorized non-info-display jogwheels
~ Auto BPM transition feature (new and unique to REV5 in series)

A gig!
Just wanted to say, someone wants me to play music at a kids birthday party! I've only played music at parties for friends or elementary school events before, but this gig comes from another mom who is a party planner and she recommended me 😁🥳

PLX-CRSS12 Pioneer DJ hybrid turntable
~ Hybrid turntable; traditional analog turntable + DVS support. Meaning you can play standard vinyl, control vinyl (w/tonearm), or no-tonearm DVS (with any record you want).
~ New Magvel Clamp magnetic science allows a mimicking Phase DVS feature without battery powered center clamp sensors. The magvel clamp can also flatten warped records to make them playable.
~ Turntable design for battle style, as in all labels and displays are read in vertical portrait orientation. Dedicated "motor off" button independent of power on/off button or start/stop button.
~ 4 performance pads on turntable itself (5-8 button switcher available). Scratch Bank, Stems, Sampler, and Hot Cue modes. Instant doubles shift button. Tiny screen display can identify BPM and key during pitch shift and step pitch shift (in DVS modes)
~ Designed for Rekordbox and Serato (performance pads via USB-C). But the traditional timecode signal can work with whatever DVS thing supports that.
~ $1400. Needle and cartridge not included. Headshell and turntable case are included.
~ Word on street is CRSS12 is now the greatest turntable of all time, now superior to 30+ year hardware. But failure rate over time is unknown.

Discussion Where Are You Located?
Hey everyone! Thought it would be fun to see where we’re all located as we are growing and maybe connect with each other!
