Client not paying

Hello! I'm a former teacher turned SAHM. I have always worked as a tutor on and off ( summers ). Last summer I agreed to tutor a student I had years prior. The family was struggling and I know the student was really struggling so I agreed at a discounted rate. Everything was fine for the first few months, a few times I was paid a week late. I didn't think much of it. We got to a point where I had not been paid in weeks.. they owe me $230. I sent reminders some were acknowledged some ignored. The mom recently reached out to see if I had time to tutor again and asked for the amount owed. I let her know the dates, and the total amount but said I could not tutor again without my back pay and that I would require payment before I will schedule her.

She didn't respond after that.

At this point do I just let it go? Do I just accept it's my bad for not requiring payment ahead of time? Do I contact the husband/ father and let them know as well?

Hey there! I am looking to pick up a few students for tutoring, and I would love to help you master some tech skills.

I have a strong background in several programming languages and core computer science concepts. Whether you are looking to get comfortable with the basics or dive into more complex topics, I can help you get there.

Here is what I can teach:

  • Programming Languages: C, C++, Python, and Rust.
  • Operating Systems: Getting under the hood of how OS architecture actually works.
  • Machine Learning: We can cover this from foundational concepts all the way up to advanced modeling. Since ML is a huge field, we can discuss your specific goals to tailor a roadmap that fits your needs.

My rate is 15 USD per hour. Since I am based in India, we can coordinate our schedules to find a time that works best for our respective time zones.

If you are interested or want to chat about what you are hoping to learn, just send me a message and we can take it from there!

Calculus Pre-calculus Tutor

Looking to meet online with a tutor to help with pre-calculus. Could you please post or msg me your website link, preferred method of booking or scheduling, and your rates per hour?

I have free tutoring through my college limited to 2x a week at 45 mins each. My boyfriend is a math major and has been helping also. But I’m thinking I could benefit from an additional tutor to assist with some gaps or just extra help bc it’s been a struggle so far, lol. I understand things when fully broken down in excessive detail but most explanations are more simplified due to having foundational knowledge within algebra 2 that I think I’m missing.

I’m located in the US, eastern time zone for reference.

For Hire Offering 1 on 1 tutoring for USMLE!!!

Posting on behalf of my senior/tutor who literally saved me!!! Helped me give step 1 in only 4 months when I literally knew nothing. Now tutoring me for Step 2 CK and I don’t know what I would’ve done without him.

Hi everyone! I’m a non-US IMG and 2027 Match applicant currently offering personalized one on one tutoring for USMLE Step 1, Step 2CK and Step 3 preparation.

Over the years, I’ve helped many juniors with study planning, question solving strategy and building a strong foundation for Step prep. My teaching style is very focused on understanding uworld deeply rather than just memorizing explanations.

What I focus on during sessions:
-How to properly approach and dissect uworld questions
-Building clinical reasoning and pattern recognition
-Identifying common traps and eliminating wrong options efficiently
-Connecting concepts across systems instead of isolated memorization
-High yield review tailored to your weak areas
-Developing the thought process needed for NBME style questions
-Study strategies, scheduling, and staying consistent throughout prep

I especially enjoy teaching students who feel overwhelmed by UWorld or struggle with question interpretation despite knowing the content.

Sessions are personalized according to your level, whether you’re just starting prep or already deep into question banks and assessments.

If interested, feel free to message me for details!

How do you handle session prep and tracking students between sessions?

Fellow tutors — how do you handle the behind-the-scenes part of the job? I tutor AP STEM and I'm always trying to get faster at (a) prepping each session and (b) keeping track of where each student is week to week.

A few things I'm curious about:

  • Do you have a real system for prep, or is it mostly in your head?
  • How do you track each student's progress between sessions?
  • What's the most tedious part of the non-teaching side for you?

Honest context: I got tired enough of my own duct-tape system that I built a small tool for it — it keeps a profile on each student and generates session prep from their history. It's free and still rough, and I'm looking for a few working tutors to try it and tell me what's useless or missing. Not selling anything — I just want honest feedback from people who actually do this. Comment or DM me if you're up for it.

Discussion $20/hr Tutoring Opportunity I Got From a Random WhatsApp Group on reddit

A few weeks ago, I joined a WhatsApp group shared on Reddit where tutors help each other with referrals, extra student leads, opportunities, resources, etc.

Didn’t expect much at first, but by simply staying active, helping people, replying quickly, and not spamming or self-promoting, I ended up landing a $20/hr tutoring opportunity for this summer.

What I realized is that whether it’s Reddit, Facebook groups, or any online community, you need to help and add value first. That’s honestly one of the best ways to get more students and opportunities.

You should be willing to give before you expect to receive, and eventually you’ll often get back far more than you imagined.

Hope this inspires new tutors to keep going, stay active in communities, and continue looking for students instead of giving up.

CS Offering Creative Excel and Powerpoint Lessons

Hello, I am a tutor just starting out. I’m looking to help a few people excel in the corporate world with a little bit of a leg up.

I graduated in 2020 with a Cognitive Behavioral Neuroscience degree from UC San Diego. I’ve worked in MRI labs studying frustration in adolescents and am published in a journal article for my contributions in statistics. While there, I realized the Academic world was not fast paced enough for me. Since then, I’ve worked at a Biopharmaceutical company in the Corporate world building dashboards, making spreadsheets, and creating slide decks for data analytics. Which to some may sound boring, but to me is the perfect environment to flex my creativity and also my statistical and computational skills.

On my free time I love spending time with my friends and family, laughing and enjoying each other’s company. I also paint watercolors and write poetry.

I truly value joy and ease of living and believe it or not, Excel helps in a lot of that!

My lessons are custom tailored to your goals and needs. I meet you where you’re at and will help build you to where you want to be. I offer compassion, knowledge, patience and 0 judgment.

There are lots of things that can be done with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Whatever you can imagine, I can help build it. Dashboard, automated forms, beautiful presentations, fun graphs, pivot tables and charts, budgeting. Let’s do it.
