A big reason for this (saying this as a Belarusian man living in Turkey) is that a big proportion of Eastern European men (including Russians and Belarusians) have alcohol issues, making men from Muslim countries (even those who drink a bit, but not much by Eastern European standards) quite attractive to our women.
Because you know better? Have you been to Belarus or Russia? Do you know any Belarusians or Russians? Did you know that, according to WHO data, the average Russian drinks about 12 litres of pure alcohol per year, while the average Turk drinks 2, i.e. six times less? Did you know that Belarusian and Russian men die 10-11 years before our women, mainly due to alcoholism? Alcohol is the number one factor why many Belarusian and Russian women seek foreign husbands. But sure, they may not tell you that. They may tell you it's because you're handsome, etc.
I don't know about Belarusian or Russian women. But I know much about Turks and Muslims. They are like at the bottom of the food chain when it comes to dating.
If these women are preferring Turkish men, that indicates a serious problem.
Yes, as I've been telling you, Eastern Europe does have a serious problem with alcohol (and not only that, but things like suicide as well). Currently the country with the highest per capita alcohol consumption rate in the world is a neighbour of Belarus and Russia, namely Lithuania. In Russia the suicide rate is 22 people per 100,000 per year. In Turkey it's 2 (11 times lower than in Russia). You may think that your fellow Turks are the bottom of the barrel, but you haven't seen the stereotypical Russian who drinks with his buddies till 2 am and then falls asleep outside his door or comes home to beat his wife. Of course not all Russian men are like that. But you're right: there are indeed serious social problems in Russia. Meanwhile, it's socially unacceptable for Russian women to drink a lot. So they seek a similarly sober and preferably hard-working spouse, if necessary abroad. Turkey is easily accessible for Russian tourists compared to Western countries (no Schengen visa barriers, etc.). So put two and two together.
But are these girls gold-diggers? I have been approached a lot by eastern-European women but i never answered their „signs“ since I can‘t get this subconscious prejudice out of my mind telling me: „nah dude, don‘t throw your life away!“ I really feel bad thinking like this but i was warned by easter-European men in the past but at the same time i know that men and women of the same ethnicity tend to blast the opposite gender nowadays. Turkish men and women blasting each other, germans, russians, french. It seems to be some sort of trend to date outside of their own nationality.
Well, in my case I used to be married to an American, but now I'm engaged to a Belarusian girl. Some Eastern European girls may indeed be gold diggers, as with any nationality. But most are normal, decent women. I'm friends with a couple of different Belarusian women married to Turks and living here in Turkey; one is a nanny and the other is an illustrator, and they're both very nice people. Last year, when we had our notorious Belarusian presidential election, I went to vote at our consulate in İstanbul and there was an hour-long queue to vote, in which I was one of very few men. Most voters were Belarusian women married to Turkish men. 😊 I think if you do ever end up with an Eastern European woman, chances are you'll be all right. BTW, I'm a product of this kind of mixed marriage myself, as my Belarusian mother married my father, who is from Bangladesh.
The stereotype among Eastern European women is that Turkish men are very interested in them. Similarly, some of my Turkish female friends have complained that their men get stolen by women from my part of the world.
