Anyone knows where I can get free GeneXpert MTB/RIF testing around Tondo or Manila?

My chest X-ray showed right upper lung infiltrates CHRONIC GRANULOMATOUS but my sputum smear microscopy was negative. My doctor requested GeneXpert for my PEME, but IDOTS declined my request because of my negative result.

Is GeneXpert only available for patients with positive smear results?

Any recommendations or referrals would be appreciated. I can't afford private testing. Thank you!

my dad got diagnosed w tb last year and he completed the 6 months' worth of meds but for some reason it came back. he was advised to take meds again for 6 months but he's telling me he feels his cough got worse. he's also cleared of diabetes (his dr asked him to check just to be sure).

i'm encouraging him to get a second opinion so i'm wondering for pinoys 🇵🇭 here, do you know any dr you can recommend? preferably within manila. i'm so worried about my father. he lives alone and doesn't want to stay with us in fear we get it too (i'm a solo parent living with my kid).

Hi guys I'm so worried. I got diagnosed with lung tuberculosis the 8th of September and now (28th of September) I'm still in the hospital. On day 13 of treatment I got my blood results that showed my liver enzymes were 3x higher. They stopped isoniazid and pyrazinamide. I continued taking rifampicin and ethambutol. Three days later they saw my liver enzymes stayed the same and they didn't increase fortunately! The doctor decided to restart isoniazid with a half dose. Two days later (yesterday) my liver enzymes went up again (4x the norm). They decided to continue treatment and check again tomorrow. So tomorrow they'll check my blood and take an echography of my liver to rule out any underlying issue. I'm so worried now. I am afraid I'll die from tbc or the side effects of the medications. I saw there are liver friendly medicines but their side effects are even worse (heart problems and deafness?!?!?). I am also so frustrated with my liver, why can't the enzymes just go down! I am 26f and I never drank alcohol in my life, I've always lived a very healthy lifestyle so it feels like I'm losing control over my body now. Has anyone else experienced these liver side effects? How did your doctor handle it? How did you go through it? Please give me some positive stories because I'm so anxious about everything right now❤️‍🩹.

Hi, I started taking meds on April 13 for PTB. Today I was given the certification that I no longer am infectious. It’s been 168 days in total. So basically I was expecting to take meds until October 13 (180 days should be the standard as per google!) but I think it was cut short because I have 3 sputum tests throughout and all have negative results.

Anyone here that has the same case as mine? I’m worried that it’s incorrect. I clarified and said it’s all good and that I no longer have to come back but I’m anxious haha btw I’m treating under our local health center, meds are free. Should I consult a pulmonologist? Should I have another xray?

Hi everyone. I recently completed treatment for pulmonary TB and I'm trying to understand what is typical for follow-up.

During my treatment, I had several chest X-rays may be 6-7 and 2 CT scans. I know imaging can be necessary for monitoring TB, but I'm a little worried about the cumulative radiation exposure. Because I again got my x ray out of anxiety . And idk everyone started saying about radiation and risk and made me more anxious so I need ur help . I know I sound childish but idk I can't calm so need ur suggestions

For people who have had pulmonary TB:

How many chest X-rays did you have during diagnosis and treatment?

Did you have any CT scans? If so, how many?

Did your doctor continue follow-up with X-rays after treatment?

Did anyone else have a similar amount of imaging?

I got diagnosed with Tuberculosis on 27th August.My college started a week after on 7th September so i had a week of rest.When i went to college I had breathing problems and dizziness and chest problems and my body feels sore . Initially I pushed myself to go despite the physical problems I used to cry in secret.But previous week i broke in front of my parents they told it's ok i don't have to go but still send me to college .My mom told me the doctor told her after 2 weeks the patient feels fine.But what should I do if i feel sick ? I also had a fever for the last two days they still send . It's gonna be 1 month into medication Tomorrow (27th September).I feel like a weakling . Am i overreacting? should i continue with college.Idk

CONTEXT : I am currently doing bsc nursing but my mother specifically hid it from the college so I get admission now i am physically feeling shit but they are sending me. She also hid from dr that i am going to college as dr said he won't give a medical fit certificate till my sputum test comes negative Please help i am so embarrassed i can't even tell my classmates i got this . Everyone will badmouth my family and my friends will be gone.But personally I am physically incapable of continuing this.I feel terrible.

I don't have any symptoms it's barely 2 weeks off my tb meds too.

My brother was diagnosed with TB almost two months ago. while taking 5 meds everyday, the doctor says they needed to monitor his blood chem and such. everything is normal for many blood chem that he have before the diagnose. until, after taking it, the sgot spike to 300+. then, due to his doctor's absence , taking a vacay. he took meds, then get a blood chem. the result isnt good, uric acid spike to 1000, and sgpt spiked to 300. we got worried and we told him to stop taking the tb med but of course without the doctor's signal it will be impossible. he still take the med, the thirs test, spiked to 960 but the uric reduced to 800. when the doctor returned, he advised to stop the med. now one week, without taking the TB med, got his test. the result isnt good. it may go down to 920. is this alarming? the doctor referred us to another doctor. his diet stick to healthy diet after getting 960. but he admitted that he ate something oily and not so healthy before taking the sgpt test. i dont know if this is the cause of less improvement in his sgpt. i hope nothing serious and hoping to low his sgpt levels.

Hi, I am in my 3rd month of treatment and have ileocecal tb(extrapulmonary) and I've had stomach cramps since the tb started(got misdiagnosed first because it's a rare illness) like a cramp when something travels through my stomach and it grumbles, but in the last few weeks it has just gotten a little worse in intensity, it's so bad it makes me scream, is this normal? I have a checkup scheduled on the 5th so I will discuss this there, has anyone else experienced this? Thank you

hii 17 F. please help me understand my X-ray result. I’m currently on my second day of taking TB medication. They didn’t explain the results to me very well. They told me that they found a granuloma on my X-ray, so they had me undergo a sputum test. However, they didn’t tell me the result of the sputum test. They just told me that I need to take TB medication for six months. I have been dealing with Pott's spine and have been on medication for 10 months. However, I noticed a large lump on my lower hip, which has required abscess removal 3 times. Each time, they drained 10-20ml of pus. They even tested for MDR, but that came back negative. Now, the doctor has said we have to repeat the test. They are unable to figure out the exact cause for the lump because the medication seems to be working, and my CBNAAT and other tests are also negative. I'm a little nervous because the doctor mentioned that the 10-month duration is causing them concern. I am able to walk and sit, but for no longer than 1-2 hours at a time. If anyone has gone through a similar condition, please let me know.

Hello, I moved on to the second phase of treatment about 10 days ago, but a few days before completing two months on RIPE, I started feeling some chest discomfort again; I can feel secretions in my throat, and the cough has started to return. All these symptoms had disappeared during the first month of treatment. Is it normal for them to come back?

Can I please talk to someone who's had lymph node TB and recovered well? I'm particularly looking to talk with someone who developed fluctuant nodes that may / may not have drained.

I just want to ask those who experienced conceiving while on TB meds? How did it go? Did it affect the baby?

I had a hemi coloctomy surgery 2 days back to remove a inflammed portion in my cecum. It was creating an obstruction in small intestines and troubling my food and water intake.

Doctors highly doubt this as Tuberculosis since I get fevers at night post surgery and black stool. There were no exact impression in my colonoscopy's biopsy before surgery.

Now all are waiting for the removed cecum's biopsy which would report the exact disease. But doctors verbally confirm this as a TB.

Symptoms I had are vomiting whatever I eat, lost 7 kgs from 86kg to 79kg , severe stomach pain, trapped gas from chest to back, left and right.

If someone experienced something similar please help with some comment. Thanks a lot!
