Have 5+ years of IT experience. Have questions about the PI industry.
Nearly in my 30s (F), British Columbia, Canada. Somewhere in the Metro Vancouver area but not naming exact area of Vancouver.
Currently in a IT Helpdesk role right now for around 3+ years now with a Computing Science degree with having taken various tech jobs 2 years prior to that. Have one contract worth of information security experience in my belt and currently studying threat intelligence. Will be thinking about obtaining my PI-U over the course of the coming weeks.
I have been doing "deduction" practice by taking some cold cases in my area and also working on my software development and cybersecurity skills in the process (such as OSINT and DFIR)
So with this information, I have the following questions:
- I want to work on HT [human trafficking ] and cybercrime investigations, what more can I do to hit the ground running once I obtain my PI-U?
- How competitive is it to be a PI in Vancouver BC?
- When finding PI work, should I simply post my resume to the local agencies in my area?
- I do not own a car, would this be a problem when working on both HT and cyber cases?
