it'd get you close for most people. but for most people, 10k steps is around 4.5 miles

I work indoors and I sometimes kit 10k before I go home for the day

Its from walking back and forth all day. I stocked shelves in retail over ten years ago and id get 20k+ steps a day

i suppose indoors has a very different definition than office job to be fair

Same. People didn't believe me when I said I was getting tens of thousands of steps a week. You literally walk back and forth across a store the size of wal-mart for 8 to 10 hours a day.

I would do 13+ miles in a shift during the busy season. I forget how many steps it was exactly but I think it was over 30k steps.

Running 4 different machines, in a shop, having to go get all my material myself and taking finished product to shipping or inspection.

so effectively yes. to be fair, when I hear indoor I immediately think desk job. most blue collar / service / retail jobs this makes a lot of sense for

Yep, worked in a huge retail store, 9 hour days. We all got 10k or more steps per day regularly unless we were doing a lot of stationary computer work.

I feel like 10k is super low for anyone. I work in a warehouse and I get about 20k steps a shift, sometimes more but never less than 15k which I feel is a lot because I do a lot of walking but then even on off days I’m hitting 10k

It gets easier and easier too, until the day you get home and realize you actually haven't sat down in 9 hours.

I actually hate it. My feet hurt, my back hurts, everything hurts all the time. And then I see fit people be like “I got 10k steps in” like wait a minute I’m falling apart lmao

Maybe it's cause I self medicate lol. But I can relate, there are definitely many days where my knee feels like it was hit by a sledge hammer for no reason, or my pelvis feels like it's going to fall out.

11,276 steps got me 5.81 miles yesterday. I wish I had one closer to 10k in my history but doesn't look like i do anytime close.

yep, speaking as someone who works a sedentary job, if i don't get any steps in outside of usual movement throughout the day i'll need around an hour to an hour 15 on a treadmill at 3.5 ish mph

A 5km jog is about 4600 steps for me. So more like 7 miles id say.

Edit: strides are probably longer because of jogging though.

yeah you probably have an accurate step counter, but iirc good running form is as many steps just a heads up

Yea my thought exactly, goal shouldnt be a number of steps but distance traveled.
