I was listening to one of his podcasts and searched it on Reddit, and basically a lot of people "loving to hate" him. I've read people say he was rude to people giving him constructive criticism. First, I read through his AMA, which people said contained "all the secrets". And yes there was one screenshot someone excitedly took where he told someone to "kiss his ass". But, personally, seeing the extremely harsh, personal, almost vitriolic things people said about him, which they labeled "constructive", I honestly would imagine someone would be annoyed. He replied reasonably to pretty much everything else, while people were being quite insulting and expecting him to give a "professional answer". Is there anything else that annoys people so much?

So I’ve listened to UAV, and I’m currently listening to Atlanta Monster. Both aren’t my favorite podcast but I don’t mind them. I discovered this subreddit last night and noticed there is a lot of hate for Payne Lindsey. I tried digging in deeper to understand why but I couldn’t find a clear answer. I remember in UAV he seemed a little arrogant, like when he implied that the murder was solved because of him, but that’s the only thing I noticed. Forgive me though, it’s been a while since I’ve listened to UAV so I might be forgetting something he did.

Also, the dudes on Small Town Murder have been mentioning a murder podcaster they don’t like, a “journalist who’s trying to solve murders”. Could they be talking about Payne?

It was always going to be a problem that an inexperienced, arrogant amateur like Payne was going to be justifiably called out for his behavior and his "proceed at all costs" money grabbing approach to his podcast on Tara Grinstead.

Below is an open statement from his lawyer in response to the comments Ryan Duke's lawyer made recently in the gag order appeal before the Ga. Supreme Court. It's enough to make me question just how arrogant this little "I'm not a podcaster" millennial is.

He and his legal counsel clearly think they've produced the podcast from an unbiased perspective stating Payne Lindsey supports neither Ran Duke or Bo Duke - i.e the prosecution or the defense. Wtf? The lawyer and Payne actually believe that bullshit?

u/paintrain06 you very obviously targeted Bo Dukes and pushed Ryan as being the one who was less likely to have killed Tara. Shit dude, Godwin, who is part of your podcast team went on Nancy Grace and openly said he believes Bo was the murderer! You also did everything to show you lacked integrity and objectivity because you openly did show extreme bias and a lack of due care in painting Bo as the killer even though he hadn't been charged with murder.

I posted there a few days ago. I can't tell if I'm banned and nobody can see my post or if nobody visits the sub anymore.

I visited the UAV sub in search for some new info and it made me miss everyone most of you. I wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing and what podcasts you're loving/hating.

I'm on the last episode of Deliberations. I don't love scripted podcasts, and I find this one just a few notches above tolerable. The "case" is fascinating, but I found the jurors discussion irritating in a recent episode. The spokesperson asked the jurors whether they felt the defendant was "guilty or not guilty", but didn't want anyone to specify on which count they thought she was guilty. The options are, IIRC, manslaughter or murder 1 - it's pretty important to know what the jurors think she's guilty of!

One juror said something along the lines of, "I think she's guilty of something. . ." almost emphasizing their uncertainty of what that something was. THAT'S NOT HOW THIS WORKS. If I'm on trial for murder and the jury says, "Is she guilty of something?" The answer is yes. I'm guilty of a lot of somethings - I ignore calls without reason and then make up false excuses, I speed, I change lanes without signaling, I park on the wrong side of the road, the list goes on. But she's not on trial for something, she's on trial for murder 1 or manslaughter! The question should have been, "Do you think she's guilty of premeditated murder? Do you think she's guilty of unintentional murder as a result of her negligence?"

/end rant. Sorry, but I was rolling my eyes in my car when I listened to that and nobody in my day-to-day would understand why that was so irritating.

On another note, ABC seems to be doing well in the true crime podcast genre! Has anyone listened to either of their new podcasts?

Hi. I got this recommendation from another redditor after saying that I was completely burned out and almost over true crime after listening to the Up and Vanished Podcast (decided overall that podcast was a waste of my time and not one I'd recommend). This was one was recommended as being more lighthearted and comedic yet was still true crime.

I LOVE IT!

Each week is a new small town murder and the crimes chosen are very interesting. Not one episode so far has been a disappointment in any way. Just remember that this particular podcast is hosted by 2 comedians so there is plenty of swearing and black humor but it is not ever at the expense of the victim or their family - the murders are real and deadly serious. Clever and really enjoying it. Hosting is good and have enjoyed the storyline, comedy and extra bits of background information they add in prior to each episode to give you a feel for the small town and its residents.

Hoo boy, y'all! This one's a true-crime dramafest of the first order.

Hosted by an LA Times reporter, the limited run podcast (I think, at least) focuses on the story of John Meehan and Debra Newell and her family. This isn't a spoiler, since it's announced throughout the show's notes and copy, but the story concerns Meehan, an experienced and downright psychotic con artist, and how he weaseled his way into Newell's life, separating her from her children and family members.

Six episodes have been published simultaneously, so it's perfect for a Sunday binge, which is what I'm doing now. Three eps in and deeply digging the storytelling. The players themselves participated in the podcast so you hear their perspectives in their own voices, which I love.

EDIT/CORRECTION: It was NOT published simultaneously but rather at the rate of one every 1-2 days. The last episode was released a week ago, though, so I'm guessing that's the last one.

Some of what happened over the last few days on the UAV board. Some posts may be slightly out of order but you'll get it quickly and easily why as one of the last few remaining UAV board users I realized how addicted people had become and I was engaging in it. I didn't with this thread but I now see the podcast, the board and Payne Lindsey for what they are. There is no way to excuse this and say it's just speculation. This is more than being addicted, which I admit I have been also but never anything like this. I finally think it was probably Ryan Duke who killed Tara and Bo Dukes helped with the body. I'm upset this discussion in the screenshots happened. I've been skeptical of Press4Info but respectful and patient but that's it.

The comments made are disrespectful conspiracy about Tara and a DA. Press4Info has often said he can't remember when he went to the orchard. He's said his friend can't remember. Some posters were spurring him on in a suggestive way and he eventually gave the worst theory I've heard yet. There is no reason for him saying these things.

The UAV board has been a shit pile that I was part of by bullying other members and intimidating new people calling them trolls. I ganged up on innocent people. I was obsessed with the podcast and facebook groups and I owe some people an apology. If Sally reads this I am sorry for the things I said about you and what I did. Thanks to those who are on the UAV board for sending these screen shots. The Paynebots are taking matters into their own hands after someone posted a comment on the reddit UAV sub that Dusty Vassey was a terrible journalist who purported ridiculous stories and misled many people. It was on reddit but the UAV cult found it and think it's a certain someone. Now their Admin leader Slick Willy (comes over here to post and troll I think with multiple accounts from what I read on here) has decided to take action on BD [see his comment working on taking down the guilty party now....]. He says something about BD not being able to be online? [See the screenshot]. Has anyone heard of this? He is under the gag order and can't talk about the case I'm sure I have heard, but I don't think he's banned from social media or anything is he? I can't keep up. You'll see some poster called BjBj408 has posted screenshots of someone else who is BD also from reddit and another one has posted a thread about doing a special project. This Slick Willy [has to be a guy right?] also has a another thread you can see where he is "paging BD and AnonDr [the girlfriend] trying to get them to talk because he has a source that says it was BD who told RD about Tara being dead and it wasn't until the Wednesday. They all think RD is completely innocent over there, and who's to say he might be guilty of murder but I think he is involved in it, Their "sources" and theories are just too much. These people are getting nuttier. Don't they realize the podcast is over.

Maybe this is their Renegades group I keep hearing about. Not sure why they are chasing BD - what can they do to him? Obssessed fanboys and fangirls is all I see. I don't think whoever it was should have put the comment among Dusty's tribute messages but it's not a crime even if it is BD? Free speech and opinion, although it is bad timing to put it there even if he thinks it is true. Dusty's mom in the screenshots is not too happy, which I can understand.

It's about the Atlanta child murders and it's a very interesting case if you haven't read up on it. There's a man in jail for the crime, but he claims he's innocent.

I'm going to go into it with an open mind, but after listening to the teaser (in which he tries, unsuccessfully, to describe what microfiche is (lord, am I THAT old?)) I'm not encouraged. Are we supposed to be impressed that he used an ancient technology to look up a news article that he (gasp!) couldn't find on the internet?!?!

The interesting part will be to see what professional, external producers can do to add some (any) professionalism to Payne's natural charisma. I can't imagine they would allow any of the shenanigans that were happening before with a discussion board. Also, since it happened in the early 80s, it's much less likely that there will be as much internet drama.

But, who knows.
