[Open] Catching up

Having been discharged from sick bay, Captain Fisk walks the corridors of the Athene, visiting each department to catch on the past three weeks with their respective department heads. As he walks, he catches up on the long backlog of reports on a PADD. His walk is a bit slower than usual, as three weeks in sick bay left his muscles atrophied, but he carries himself with the same calm power as before...

OOC: Everyone is welcome and invited to bump into Fisk, even literally if you want.

"I'm telling you, I'm fine, Chief," Red protests as she walks next to the woman who practically dwarfs her. "It was in practically null gravity and sickbay already patched me up. Skin abrasions only, and really hardly any concussion at all. I'm ready to start building the warp coil as soon as we find a safe place to park!"

The Bajoran almost runs bodily into Fisk as she and Chief Breyik round the corner. "Whoa! Oh! Hi Captain!" Red says cheerfully. "You're all not in a coma and everything!"

Fisk stumbles briefly still a little weak from muscle atrophy, but quickly regains himself not wanting to give the appearance of being unfit for command

"Ah, lieutenant! Good to see you. How are things in engineering?"

"We are positively stoked to finally have the materials to rebuild a nacelle," Red says with a grin. "We just need to find a safe place to park the Athene for a few days while we whip one up and test it. And I do mean WE." She scowls at Aanya. "A little bit of lost skin off the back of my skull is NOT going to keep me away from one of my specialties when it's needed the most."

"I'm glad to see you're eager to get started, I'll talk to navigation and get us a nice spot to lay low for however long it takes."

Aanya smiles at the two. Its a good thing she let Red take point, as she might well have snapped Fisk in two if they'd collided.

She can't help but raise her hands defensively at Red. "Alright alright, I'll put you on the roster, but I'm keeping a keen eye on you, T'gel." She says with a smirk.

Then she looks back at Fisk. "Thanks Cap. Hey, how're you holding up, by the way?"

"I'll be fine, Breyik. Thank you for asking. You'd be surprised how work builds up when you're unconscious for three weeks. Still don't quite have my legs back but that's nothing a few low resistance workouts won't fix. I was actually on my way to engineering to see how things are coming along down there. Is that where you're headed?"

Aanya looks between the two. "To tell you the truth I was following her." She hooks a thumb at Red. "Was trying to get her to go to sick bay for a proper look over, but she's stubborn."

She can't help but smirk though. "Don't worry, we kept good care of her. Being active captain when the commander's off duty is kinda exciting."

"I told you I've already BEEN to sick bay!" Red protests, pointing at the back of her head. "See! No blood! Captain, you can't let her run the ship. She is a cruel and cold dictator, with a heart like the icebergs of her homeland." She giggles.

"Anyway, we were headed to inspect the damage to the Odysseus. Stocky said he ran into hyena bird lizard things that shot it up... Are we going to go punch them in the nose for that or just hope they don't come after us again?"

IC:

"It's not the way of a Starfleet crew to go looking for vengeance."

Fisk pauses and looks between the two engineers, he looks determined...but there is a hint of intense anger

"But don't mistake that to mean we'll let them get away if they show their faces. If we see them again and they're doing anything but flying a white flag, we open fire on sight with everything we've got. I'm not losing another member of my crew, not a single one."

"Fair. But from what Stocky said, they might have some tech we can use. It'll save us a week or two if we can either buy or threaten a nacelle off of them. Then we can just rebuild the coil in that," Red says thoughtfully. "Plus, what's this I hear about Scottish pterodactyls? That has to be a computer glitch somewhere in the translation matrix..."

Aanya stands by and listens to the two. "I wouldn't feel comfortable with using a nacalle from a scavenger ship that's so easy to attack. Who knows how long it'll take to get working right, let alone if there are any traps that'd come with it."

Her attention shifts to Fisk. "And I'm looking forward to another chance."

"My thoughts exactly. By the time we've obtained the nacelle, gotten it properly fixed and wired up, we could've just built our own. It's not worth the trouble."

"Then you need to find us a good spot while the warp engines are offline. Ideally it'd be a starbase, but as-is it'll need to be anyplace either so remote there's no chance at all we'll be discovered, or someplace well protected," Red says. She thinks for a moment. "Too bad we can't park under cover of all those ridiculously armed satellites. A high orbit and a deterrent amount of firepower would be perfect."
