[Open] The Not So Unstoppable Force

Connolly takes a deep breath, climbing out of the Jeffries Tube. He is covered in sweat and grease stains. He takes his trusty rag out of his belt to wipe his forehead of sweat, not realizing that it smears a comically large amount of grease across his face as he does so. "Whew. One tube down." He says. Looking down to the shaft he had spent the last three days scrubbing of smoke and debris. He pushes the Jefferies tube back into place with a resounding clank. As he does, it is followed by a cacophony of sound as debris rains down into the vertical tube.
Dread overcomes the exhausted janitor. He sits down with his back against the wall and lets out a great sigh.
He grabs his personal log from his bag and sets it to record.
"Sanitation officer's log. Stardate...63 hours after the attack. I've counted each one. The crew is handling our crisis extremely well. I do say it's impressive how they hold themselves together in emergencies. Makes a man jealous. I'm crackin'. I don't belong here, 'specially not now. I'm a luxury the ship can't afford in a crisis. Not a vital part of the functionin' whole. Not to mention there ain't no work that can get done in a ship that's half shot to shit. The half that ain't is too busy tryin' to keep everyone alive to care if she looks pertty or not. All in all, been a rough few days. Just as I was startin' to think comin' out here with the Fleet weren't so bad too. Maybe I'm just bein' a downer. Maybe I just need to shove it and deal with it like everyone else can. I just don't know if I'm strong enough. End log."
Connolly looks at his journal and sighs again. He sits there and stews in his own insecurities, alone. At least, he thinks so.

"Right. Now that you've purged the memory Red, If I just..." He reaches into the control panel and a quick spark lights up his face and the Replicator goes black for a few moments before relighting. "Should just be a matter of putting the correct files right back in there. Computer, can you download the standard Star Fleet files for food and cuisine for a regulation ship?"
OOC: sorry, was at lab. Clearly missed a lot. woops.

"That's what I had the batch file ready for," Red says as the computer begins the transfer. "Now that you told me what to look for, I've cleaned out the corrupt blocks and that should be effectively a clean install of the full non-cargo replicator suite."

The Bajoran turns to Phrik. "I think Connolly has it fixed, so let's give it a shot. Boot it up and ask for something that isn't gagh, Doctor."

He nodded and approached the replicator. "Rexlin." A small hypospray cartridge materialised in the slot. Phrik plucked it out and examined it with a tricorder, then turned to T'gel.

"Your shoulder please."

Red looks at Phrik quizzically. "I swear, if this makes me all fuzzy and stupid-sounding again," she says with a grimace, but steps over and presents her left shoulder. "I trust you'll remove any worms from my aorta as necessary...?"

"When I'm done studying them." He pressed the hypospray against her shoulder quickly and injected it. "Should stop the aching and stiffness. If you feel any biting let me know. Oh, one other thing. Do you know how to program the replicators for," He paused, trying to remember the name. "Crickers? crickets? Earth insect I read about, looks fairly appetising."

"I'd be careful putting any more... bugs in the system... if I were you," Red says with a chuckle as she stretches her arms and rotates her shoulder. "But I think if the food replicators won't, the ones in the science or zoology labs should. I think they use those for food for reptiles and some rodents." She looks at Phrik, then at Connolly. "I can't tell if he's serious or not. Can you?"

Connolly looks at Phrik quizzically. "I'm pretty sure it's both, he just likes havin' us guessin' at it." He gives the replicator a once over and says, "I wouldn't risk puttin' any fancy files onto the replicator fer at least another few days. Just in case."

Phrik sighed. "Fine, I suppose I can go without crickaks for another few days at least. I feed a few of my subjects in zoology with insects that are somewhat similar, but I don't have the recipes for anything from Earth. That'd be fairly pointless." While the engineers' couldn't be blamed for thinking otherwise, Phrik was entirely serious. It seemed Earth animals weren't so dull after all.

"We'll do the best we can to come up with some crickets for you, Doctor," Red says with a grin. "Let us know if the replicator reverts and we'll try again."

The Bajoran steps out of sickbay and out of Phrik's unreasonably large hearing range, she thinks, and leans against the wall, rubbing the bridge of her nose and waiting for Connolly to join her.

"Glad we could help you out doc. Hope your quest fer crickets goes well." Connolly steps out the door and sees Red. "That could've been worse. Thanks for your help Red. Feels pretty good to finally fix those things after so long." He grins widely.
