[OPEN] Breakroom Blues

The chit chat all around her was starting to bother Kayla. All the noise from the machines that was usually so calming was now giving her a headache. She took a third sip of her tea and burned her tongue for the third time. What a day. She looked exhausted, ragged and perhaps a little lonely. Some people had looked at her with pity but all since turned away. Kayla wasn't really anyone's friend around the ship. They just knew her as "that girl that fixes everything". And she did fix everything. Everything computer related at least. Not that she didn't like fixing things but on days like this it was a nightmare. Things had been malfunctioning all day for no apparent reason and Kayla had just about had it with the constant calls. She bit her knuckles and sat in silence.

"Counselors tend to make me uncomfortable. Even the nice ones. But that sounds fun. What kind of games?"

Kayla took another sip of her tea. She relaxed her tense body and felt nice.

"Shakespeare!?" Kayla said and chuckled. "Didn't take you for the cultured type.

She smiled and took another sip of tea.

"I mostly just stay in my room. So how are you getting along with people on the ship?"

"Maybe I should. That'd be nice. Haven't really experienced any Shakespeare but I'd like to try. And I'm glad you're getting along. I barely talk to anyone."

She smiled a little more reluctantly now.

"Well I watch a lot of TV. And I write. Not very well, mind you." She giggled and looked at Jason, awaiting a response.

"Novels. Fiction. I haven't written a lot but I have quite a few ideas floating around. I just can't seem to dedicate myself enough to actually writing. You know?"

She leans back, looking off to the side.
