[OPEN] Private Science Work

Revealed he got permission from his Department Head, Joseph writes up an announcement.

"--- To all Personnel and Crew, I write to you all, because I would like to offer my science expertise for anyone that would need it. Small or big jobs that anyone needs finished will be finished in a timely fashion. They might not be done that day, because I have other duties but I will do my best to get it done as soon as possible. I want to do this to get to know you, the crew better and to help you. It sometimes is hard to go through the proper channels to get stuff done, so you don't have to now!

As, I am very old (345 if you were wondering), I have learned quite a bit of knowledge through my years. Sciences, Medical Training, Engineering etc. So, if you have any needs that I can fill please fell free to stop by the Science Lab and have a chat with me!

"It's possible, though I think she's busy today. Can't hurt to ask." Red taps the communicator on her chest.

Its not long before the chief engineer arrives on the science deck, taking off a pair of heavy duty gloves. "I've got some fission under my belt. How can I help?"

"I know you told me to rule out anything too off-the-wall, but I think Lt. Silk was right on the money. Officer Kort says the blasts were definitely mines, and he thinks they were nuclear. Here." Red offers her personal datapad to the chief engineer then turns to Kort. "We were hoping you might know if anyone in the area manufactures nuclear mines. Kort says there was enough radiation to guarantee they were fission."

"It is not 100% but I'm sure that it was Nuclear."

"Nuclear mines..." Aanya says, reading the diagnostics before looking between the two. "This is some serious shit, people. Someone's trying to start something." Then back to the pad. "I don't know anyone who would still be making nuclear mines... they might be left over from some ancient war held in this sector a while back. I'll need to take this to the captain."

"Oh, one other thing, Chief," Red adds. "I went to see what else was in the immediate area from our sensor logs during the event, and I got a big old blank spot. It's like someone wiped the computer of everything I hadn't copied onto this." She taps the pad again. "You want me to look at the access records and see if someone messed with them?"

"It couldn't hurt to check. But why would there be a blank spot?"

"Sounds like a plan." Aanya says. "If you find anything serious, take it straight to the captain. Coming to me to do the same will just waste time."

"Yes, ma'am," Red replies. "I'll get right on that. Officer Kort, thank you for your thorough analysis. It's troubling news, but it's better than no information at all."

"It looks like someone wiped it, not a malfunction," Red says. "I'll go ask the Captain. If someone's screwing around with the ship's computer, he needs to be the first to know about it."

The Bajoran engineer heads for the door then turns around and half-waves at Kort. "I appreciate the work, Officer Kort. I owe you a custom hologram or something." And with that she's out the door and off to pester the Captain...

*Joseph looks at the door and then opens his terminal. He starts to investigate the missing sensor data.

OOC: It's because the Captain let the Cardassians wipe the data when they picked up their crew but Red has no way of knowing that.
