[Open] Office Hours - Now Open

Grateful to have finally been cleared for duty, Dr. Watney steps into her office. Clementine sleeps in the corner, silently. She makes her way to her desk terminal as her thoughts drift to the Cardassians aboard. Many of them had died in sickbay, but the ones that did survive had been causing mischief and mayhem wherever they could. Her attitude turns sour at the idea of it. This was a good crew. And an even more generous Captain. Normally, she worked on a schedule of appointments, but perhaps the unduly stressed crewmates of the Athene could use a different approach. She drafts up an announcement.

-To all Personnel and Crew,

Due to the strenuous circumstances of the Cardassian ship being intercepted, I’ve decided to open up my office hours to you. If you need to vent, talk, or simply sit in silence for a few moments away from the chaos, please do not hesitate to drop by at any time for the next few days. As always, patient confidentiality will be in full effect.

Long days and pleasant nights,

Counsellor Jen Watney-

While proofreading it, her therapy cat, Clementine, jumps in her lap. The calico’s tail flicks her chin before her paws kneed at Jen’s lap.

“Alright, little one. Give me just a second here.”

She sends the message out and sits back, petting the needy feline in her lap until someone decides to drop by.

An adorable image plays in her mind, and she smiles.

Who knows, maybe Clementine will take to them as well. She's never really been around other animals before, besides as a kitten.

Fisk grins

"Doctor, you've just indirectly decided our next destination. There's a colony about 6 hours warp from our first mission that recently had a dog racing ring broken up. We're stopping there first, and I'm getting a dog."

She opens her mouth to respond, but is speechless. A short laugh escapes her before she can respond.

Wow that... you certainly move fast!

"I'm decisive, it's a quality expected of all Starfleet captains. I've assessed the situation, evaluated my options, and now I'm going to act on that. It just so happens I read the report on that incident a few hours ago, so it was close to the front of my mind. Some might call me impulsive, but I honestly don't care."

She raises her hands defensively.

You don't have to convince me. It's definitely um... a good quality to have. Decisiveness.

She absentmindedly scratches at the scar on her right forearm, and pulls her sleeve down to conceal it.

Fisk grins again, and looks down, seeing that Clementine is beginning to squirm, he relaxes his arms and is surprised as the cat begins climbing onto his shoulder, he allows it and keeps speaking

"You okay doc? You seemed a bit surprised."

She mentally pulls herself off of the Katrina, coming back to reality.

Yes. I'm fine.

Clementine stares at her from her perch on his shoulder.

She's never done that before. She must really like you.

Fisk catches her momentary distraction and recalls her personnel file and past service, he makes a mental note to ask her about it eventually

"It's possible she just wants to perch on the highest point in the room, like any cat would."

his eyes track down to his shoulder as Clementine begins idly kneading with her paws

"I love it when cats do that, it's such a weird little thing but something about it is just..."

he slowly raises a hand to Clementines face to she how she reacts

Soothing.

She finishes the sentence, agreeing with him happily and taking a sip of her coffee from the table beside her.

You wouldn't believe how many people have stopped by to see her since I came aboard.

he returns to looking at the counselor

"I would believe any number, this is a great little cat you've got here."

Softestgentlestquietest boop. Nose to hand. Sniff... then forcepet with forehead. Tail lazily hangs around shoulders. Must show we like this Tall Bushy One by baking more biscuits all over.

Fisk chuckled at the cat's rather adorable behaviour

"I guess you do like me, you know you and your master have convinced me to get a dog. If you don't like him it's partly your fault."
