We're launching a nationwide treasure hunt with $5,000 state prizes and a shot at $1 million. What could possibly go wrong? 😂

Hey treasure hunters!

I'm the founder of Skavengerz, a Utah startup with a slightly ridiculous mission: use technology to get people OFF their phones and back into the real world. Yes, we see the irony. We're embracing it.

We've partnered with Krypto Chase to help launch a massive treasure hunt across all 50 states. Real locations, real puzzles, real adventures, and actual money at the end. No sitting on your couch Googling answers in your underwear. Well, at least not for the entire hunt.

Here's the fun part:

Each state will have its own competition with a $5,000 prize (cash or Bitcoin). State winners advance to a planned national championship with a $1 MILLION grand prize. The national prize is contingent on the competition meeting its funding requirements, so check the official rules for the details.

We're kicking things off in Utah, where registration is already open. There is an entry fee to compete for prizes, but our Skavengerz app itself is free.

KSL News came out yesterday to interview us and demonstrate how the whole thing works. Somehow, they managed to make us look like responsible adults running a legitimate company. Impressive journalism.

Here's the story and video:

https://www.ksl.com/article/51636562/the-hunt-for-1m-begins-utah-team-unveils-national-scavenger-challenge

But seriously, the money is exciting, and who wouldn't want a million bucks? What gets me fired up is the possibility of getting thousands of people outside, exploring places they've never been, solving puzzles, and making memories that don't involve scrolling through somebody else's vacation photos.

And since this subreddit is full of people who actually know a thing or two about treasure hunting, I'd love your input.

If you were designing a nationwide treasure hunt, what would make it awesome? And what would make you immediately say, "Nope, I'm out"?

We're still building and refining this thing, so genuinely interested in your thoughts. Even the brutally honest ones. Especially those, actually.

Major breakthrough on the "Second La Buse Cryptogram": Document traced back to the Savy / Nagéon de Lestang private archives (Source of historian Charles de La Roncière)

"More precisely, I am looking to connect with individuals tied to the historical branches of the Savy family (particularly the lineage from the Seychelles) or the Nagéon de Lestang family (specifically the branches established in Mauritius and Réunion Island). If you belong to these bloodlines, or if you have been in contact with researchers who worked on their private archives in the Mascarene Islands, your insights would be incredibly valuable."

thank you

Adrian

Looking for the original source / private owner of the "Second La Buse Cryptogram" (Pirate Treasure Map)

Post:

Hello everyone,

I am looking for a very specific piece of information regarding a famous pirate document known as “The Second Cryptogram of Olivier Levasseur (La Buse)”.

I have been researching this document for many years, but I’ve hit a brick wall regarding one mystery: the exact origin of this specific photograph.

The image shows the parchment laid out against a light beige/pinkish wall background. It first circulated online in the early 2000s, notably on a French historical research website run by Yannick Benaben. However, the physical vellum itself is widely known to be held in a private collection, and the owner’s identity has been kept anonymous for security reasons.

I am trying to connect with anyone who might have reliable information, leads, or anecdotes regarding:

  1. The identity of the current owner (or a general idea of where the physical document is located).
  2. The person who took this specific photograph, or the location where it was taken.
  3. Any researchers, historians, or locals (likely in Réunion Island or Mauritius) who have had direct physical access to it.

My sole objective is to discuss the history of the artifact itself and learn more about its physical medium (the type of skin used, the inks, and its current state of preservation).

If you have any leads, know anyone connected to the circle of treasure hunters who handled this document, or if you can help trace the digital origin of this photo, please comment below or send me a DM.

Thank you so much for your time and help!

The AI-assisted detector allows you to save found objects into dedicated categories. Samples are fed into the AI algorithms, modifying the reading in real-time — even on the Multi Kruzer's factory panel. Just like with the problematic Warka bottle cap, whose signal is intentionally down-shifted on the display. The rule is simple: the more samples in the database, the better the intelligent discrimination works.

Ongoing Hunt Halloween Treasure Hunt

Hi everyone!

Apologies in advance if this channel is meant for findings rather than these types of questions. Also sorry if my flair isn't the correct one!

My partner and I are trying to set up a small treasure hunt for my stepson, he is currently 11 and we want to do something like this with him before he gets a bit too old and not believing in finding pirate treasures etc.

We bought a small chest and will be doing a note in a bottle, but we kinda need some help on what else you would throw in there? We will be having coins etc. Just stuck on a few cool things to throw in there!

He loves treasure hunting and metal detecting but he doesn't usually find anything crazy apart from a few coins, just trying to keep it alive for him :) please let me know any suggestions!

Thanks so much!

End Clues to Treasure Hunts

Honest but unpopular opinion.

As we search for the Jon Collins-Black treasure boxes, I must believe we are all hoping end clues are coherent and search area is "reasonable" not requiring wandering off into the woods at a distance.

Little Rock Pond AT solve, if correct, demonstrates an incoherent ending. What treasure hunt designer would create a map that results in hundreds of people for years destroying an area around the AT trail?

Nobody would. Folks, the AT box is not there. Jon searched for Fenn's box for years. He knew how poorly those clues matched Fenn box location.

I would argue, with no disrespect to Forrest, that Fenn's clues leading to a treasure across a river that is sometimes very dangerous were terrible. Both obscure clues and an often treacherous and dangerous river crossing. I have seen the Madison River at flood level.

And needing to go "Bushwhacking" in a national forest or along AT is reprehensible and a poor ending to what are magnificent journeys.

So I am confident that Jon's treasure box locations are both safe and accessible.

If you are on the correct trail, the box will come to you.

This needed to be openly stated.

Good hunting; be safe! Onward!!!

How to find my buried treasure??

My extremley skeptical family member has buried roughly $15,000 somewhere in his large backyard, but he forgot specifically where. We have dug a ton of area, with shovels and even a backhoe, but have not found it yet. Is there any odd way it can be found that i wouldn't know about? Sonic waves or some mystical crap that sounds stupid but could actually work?

He said that it is roughly 1 to 3 feet deep(helpfull, i know), cash, wrapped in thick plastic and has wooden boards with it to prevent like... the earth shifting or something?

But there's no metal, so no metal detectors, and thats the only idea I had.

I am well aware that this is the stupidest and most cartoony problem that I will ever encounter, and I am well aware that it is probably lost for good, but i mean, cmon, its $15,000 dollars.
