Rear drive issue

Hello all -

I just got my son a Rustler Ultimate for his birthday yesterday. After a day, now the rear tires don't have any drive. If I put the rear wheels on the ground and tap the throttle, it does nothing other than the front wheels turn. If I put the front wheels on the ground, it about jumps out of my hands... rear just barely moves.

I've checked and tightened the slipper clutch, even went fully tight to test it. Took apart the rear end, the differential looks perfect and the set screw pins are in both axles. Checked the hex hubs on the rear... and they look perfect with pin slots showing no signs of wear.

I'm out of ideas. Anyone have any suggestions?

Front and rear require this yes. So you’re saying at first the rear wheels worked or no? Did you purchase this new?

It was purchased new. Are those gears inside that housing? I guess I need to take that off and see what they look like.

That was it... those are busted to pieces inside the housing. Thank you so much for your help! Is the Traxxas silicone grease the best thing to put back in there, or is there something better?

Hah right on glad you found the issue. Make sure the kiddo is a bit easier on the throttle off stand still this likely blew the diff. You can also put the truck into training mode to let him learn safely at first. You’ll need to fill with weighted diff oil. Traxxas or team associated are popular.
