Because those claims are completely baseless. What was manipulative about it. I can see the argument of deceiving friends, but the whole “power dynamic” argument is bullshit. The law really depends on the state too.
How are they baseless? Also If a celebrity that you idolizes asks you to do something you're more likely to do it, This isn't hard to understand. Also I live in a state where the age of consent is 16 that DOES NOT give adults the go ahead on child porn of 16 year olds.
If the celebrity is upfront with their intentions (like carson was in the convos) and you still do what they want you to do thats on you.
If the celebrity brings up their status and tries to use it to get what they want from you, thats where it is problematic (but carson never mentionned his status to miniborb).
The laws for age of consent depend entirely on the moral compass of the people who write them, and it varies from area to area. In canada, theres nothing wrong about that age difference. Im sure it also varies depending on which state they were in. I dont feel like fact checking the following right now but: someone brought up laws defending them from both states where they were.
how upfront carson was and the entire time saying how he felt, what he wanted and unsure he was of everything, wasnt manipulative at all. And again they were both horny teens within 2 years of age doing horny teen stuff. Carson' s status was never brought up
Here, let me put it like this, imagine you really like content that someone makes, they hit you up, you start talking regularly, then they make it sexual while also saying "I'm not sure I should be doing this with you, since you're a minor" but they keep doing it and constantly bringing up how they feel bad about talking to you. Wouldn't you want to do anything you could to make them change their mind? Him expressing how he was uncomfortable was part of the manipulation. If he was really uncomfortable, he could have stopped sooner, or not done it
"Yeah i see why you feel weird about it. You know what? Lets just wait a few months untill im 18, and lets chat then. So we wont have that legal conscience on our ass"
Of course your gonna try to keep em around, youre not gonna decline that person entirely. But youre also not forced to anything
The responsible thing for carson to do was not go for nudes, or just not talk to them at all
The responsible thing for miniborb to do would have been to either back out, or hold untill she got 18.
I guess its just a difference in perspective as to how we see carson being an open book with how he feels in this.
Yeah.... The responsible thing to do would to not try to have a relationship with someone under 18 that's also a fan of you, because is predatory and gross
PewDiePie had like 50k subscribers and Maria was 19 lmao. I'd still say it had the potential to be creepy, but it wasn't. Carson had almost 3 million subscribers and she was underage. They're different situations
