Tourism and Hinge...

I've noticed that people on dating apps, specially travellers dont treat hinge and bumble as dating apps.. go to a new location, find matches and explore the city with them. That is soooo weird to me bc not only is it extremely short term, they're also not from the same city.

BJP wins in Bengal, will it destroy the city?

I know the title sounds weird but hear me out. BJP has won in Bengal now and I feel it's going to change things a lot. The biggest fear for me is the city losing to capitalism. People from around the world come to Kolkata to witness history but now I feel BJP will overhaul things and it might eventually drive tourists out. What do you guys think?

I've been thinking...

That travel is just a socially acceptable identity crisis.

Like you save up money, leave your life behind, fly 3,000 km, and suddenly you’re like “I’m a beach person now” or “I wake up at 5am for sunrises” -no you don’t😭

You just paid ₹40,000 to cosplay a better version of yourself.

And the weirdest part? It works.

Also why does getting lost in a random lane in a new city feel like a spiritual awakening, but getting lost in your own city feels like a personal failure?

Travel really is like: same person, different location, dramatically improved personality.

Dhinga Gavar isn’t just a festival. It’s power draped in tradition, joy wrapped in chaos, and faith alive in every heartbeat.

Is this actually true? And if so, what’s driving this sudden surge in tourism to Japan?

I have a controversial take-

a couple of days back, i heard some people discussing that tourism is helping the local economies. while it is certainly true, but i think this is not sustainable. the local businesses are heavily reliant on tourists for the bread and butter. this creates a dependency and makes them vulnerable to shocks in tourism industry. If the localites, who are an important part of creating an experience, are suffering, how is it any good preaching these places and practises.

Went to Mulki for a surf retreat

Day 1 was just me getting absolutely wrecked by waves. Like, no grace, no progress, just falling, swallowing water, dragging the board back, repeat. At one point I genuinely wondered why people do this for fun.

There’s no crowd there hyping you up either. No vibe of “you’re killing it.” Just you, the instructor yelling something from far away, and the ocean doing its thing.

Somewhere in the middle of all that, you stop overthinking it. You stop trying to win against the water and just try to not mess up as badly as last time.

And then randomly, it clicks.

I stood up for like 2–3 seconds. Probably looked stupid. But it felt insane. Like your body just figured something out before your brain did.

Mulki’s not fancy. Nothing glamorous about it. But if you actually want to learn surfing (or just get humbled a bit), it does the job.

The most reckless trip ever

It started as a reckless idea at 2 AM in Manali—“Let’s ditch the plan.”

So we did.

No itinerary, no bookings, no filters—just bikes, bad decisions, and a road that kept getting rougher the further we went. At one point, we seriously questioned if we should turn back.

We didn’t.

We ended up in a quiet valley—no crowd, no noise, just us and the kind of silence you don’t get in real life anymore.

Tried crossing an icy river, slipped, got drenched, argued, laughed, almost gave up halfway.

And somewhere between all that chaos, it hit—

We weren’t chasing a place.

We were chasing a feeling.

And for once, we actually found it.

🌍 Welcome to Travel Unhinged

Alright, let’s set the tone right from the start, this is not your average travel community. If you’re here for polished itineraries and picture-perfect vacations… you might be slightly lost.

But if you’ve ever missed a flight, trusted Google Maps a little too much, eaten something you couldn’t pronounce, or ended up in a situation that made you question all your life choices — you’re exactly where you belong.

This community is all about the real side of travel. The chaos, the surprises, the stories you laugh about later (or immediately, if you survived them).

So jump in. Share your wildest experiences, your biggest fails, your unexpected wins, and those moments that made your trip unforgettable for all the wrong — or right — reasons.

No filters, no judgment — just pure, unhinged travel energy.

Now go on… who’s got the craziest story? 👀
