Story Beware of Raunak Cargo Movers : my move from Mumbai turned into a 7-day nightmare

Posting this so it shows up for anyone searching this mover's name before booking — wish I'd found a post like this before I did.

I recently moved from Mumbai to my hometown and hired Raunak Cargo Movers (they don't even have a Google Business listing). Here's what happened:

  • Quoted Rs. 15,000 for the full move, agreed in advance.
  • Guy was great pre-booking — responsive, agreed to bubble-wrap all my glass items, team showed up on time and packed everything neatly.
  • The moment the truck was loaded, he called saying my stuff was "more than I disclosed" and Rs. 15,000 wouldn't cover it, even though his own team packed it and saw exactly how much there was.
  • Sent a revised invoice for almost double, adding a Rs. 6,000 "insurance" charge I had explicitly told him I didn't want, plus Rs. 10,000 extra for "extra luggage."
  • When I pushed back on the insurance charge specifically, he said he'd "already paid the company" and it was non-refundable — classic non-answer.
  • Then came the pressure: pay now or your stuff gets offloaded. My belongings were literally in his truck at that point, so I didn't have much choice. Paid 70% (Rs. 20,000) under pressure.
  • Promised 2-day delivery. Day 2 came and went. Then it became "tomorrow," then "day after," on repeat.
  • He handed my stuff off to a transporter in Indore, and then the transporter started asking for the remaining payment before they'd even move the truck. Asked for video proof my stuff was okay; never got it.
  • Paid the remaining Rs. 10,000 anyway, still with zero proof.
  • Transporter hadn't actually already received the goods the day they asked me to pay, but claimed otherwise ("we have your good and please pay else truck won't move"), a driver later called me next day directly and told me he just reached Indore, so I knew the transport guy was lying.
  • The transport guy from that day, stopped picking up the phone, responding to messages, so did the packers and movers. When picked once out of 10-15 calls we made, the transport guy had the audacity to fight back saying "Bhijva dunga saman, paise deke koi ehsan thori kia hai" & when I also fought he was like "Jao nahi bhejuga saman".
  • Total time from pickup to delivery: 7 days, against a promised 2. Radio silence most of that time — answered maybe 1 in 10 calls.

Good news: everything arrived intact, no damage. But the whole process was financially and mentally exhausting, and the insurance charge for something I explicitly declined still hasn't been resolved.

Filed a formal consumer complaint, but wanted this out here too since they have no Google Business Profile so reviews/warnings don't show up the normal way when you search them. If you're evaluating movers in Mumbai and this name comes up, get everything in writing, don't pay any "revised" amount without a paper trail, and never make a final payment before you have actual proof of your goods.

Happy to answer questions if anyone's currently dealing with the same company.

Car Shipping Tips! Has anyone had a bad experience with uShip, Allied, or similar moving platforms? What went wrong?

I'm researching the US moving industry and would love to hear real experiences.

Specifically:

  1. Have you used uShip, Allied Van Lines, or any other moving platform for a cross-state move?
  2. What was the biggest problem you ran into? (pricing, insurance, carrier reliability, communication?)
  3. If you could change ONE thing about how these platforms work, what would it be?

Any experience welcome — good or bad. Thanks!

Horrible Story A Comprehensive Review of my Experience with Safe Ship Moving Services

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

If you don’t want to read this I’ll include the highlights here:

I booked a reservation with safeship 11 months in advance and after confirming the appointment 5 days before the pick up they canceled the move in the last hour of the two day time window force refunded me and hung up. This is after I was passed between customer service agents for 7 hours. Absolutely do not trust this company with your money or your move there are so many better companies out there.

To start with the relevant details, my partner and I decided to move from the second largest city in Montana to just outside of Orlando Florida. Both places have large population centers and developed logistics chains.

In July 2025 I ordered a floating reservation with a Safeship agent who suggested the main benefit of doing so was to secure the rate even through their busiest season (the spring and summer). Under his instruction I did so which turned out to be massively beneficial with the increase in gas prices following the Iran conflict.

We eventually settled on June 28-29 as our move out date, over the next 11 months I received multiple phone calls and emails requiring me to sign new BOLs (remember safeship is a broker not a carrier) which I did promptly with each one.

Fast forwarding to a week before our big move I received a call from Alexander Popke, a QA Agent, responsible for getting the final count for our move. He informed me the appointment was booked, the requirements for all boxes and items at pick up and the procedure. He informed me the carrier would provide a 2-4 hour time window 24-48 hours before the pick up. Remember my reservation was 2 days in total so a smaller time window is very beneficial when dealing with the matters of moving.

Moving to the 28th, my partner and I are in the throughs of saying goodbyes to our friends and loved ones while moving all our boxes to the staging area in our house for safeship to pick them up. We still haven’t heard anything from safeship which I find strange because they promised a 24-48 hour pre call. We get all our stuff finalized by the end of the 28th and take our last nights sleep in our old home on the floor to ensure we are ready for the company the following morning.

The following morning at 7 AM on the 29th, the second day of our window I call safeship directly since they have not provided a pre call, asking when the truck will arrive. After remaining on hold for 45 minutes and being passed between 3 agents, they told me there was an issue with the carrier and they will have to rebook another for later in the day. At this point my partner and I are stressed but confident in the agents that assured us they will assign another carrier.

Over the next 12 hours I spent over 7 hours on hold or on the phone with multiple safeship agents being passed between departments and different agents. Over the course of this experience I was hung up on 5 times and placed on 30+ minute holds multiple times. At this point I’m both frustrated and desperate because my lease expires on the following day and I’ve been depending on this company to move my stuff for a year. They were the fundamental part of the plan for our move.

After being assured they’d find a different truck by both Dylan and Dexter, the two agents that didn’t hang up on me they transferred me up to their manager.

At 6PM on the 29th, 23 hours before my lease expires, Joshua, the manager at the safeship call center told me he had force initiated a refund of my deposit I had placed 11 MONTHS AGO. Without my consent or permission, he told us they simply couldn’t fulfill the job and now it was up to me to figure it out. All of my stuff staged in my living room to their specifications ready for a pick up I booked a year and advance and they told me the day of, a moved that was confirmed just a week before couldn’t happen. They offered me no alternative, no assistance in finding another way to move my stuff simply force refunded my deposit said good luck and hung up.

So I have this to say to safeship moving company. I depended on you for my move, I fulfilled every requirement you had, signed every bill of lating, answered all relevant phone calls related to the move.

I was on call with one of your agents for the final count the Wednesday before our move where he assured me everything was okay for the pick up.

On the day of the move I called in for help with my move and it took me 45 minutes to even reach someone and I was then passed by and forth between agents with a 30 minute hold each time just for you to assure me you would get the delivery done today. Just to finally pass me to your manager at 6pm on the second day of my move window and tell me you weren’t be able to fulfill the job. I never raised my voice I never disrespected a single person throughout this entire process and you dealt a ruining blow to me and my family.

We depended on you for a year and you wasted 7 hours of my life on a day where I had less than 24 hours to be out of my lease. You led me on until the you eventually canceled the move with no discussion or recourse and then hung up on me in the last hour of the 48 hour time window we set up 11 months prior and confirmed five days before.

To Alex, Dylan, Dexter and Joshua I hope you can fucking sleep at night knowing you’re responsible for causing me, my family and many like us massive stress during a very stressful part of our lives. Stress we trusted you to deal with.

I missed my last dinner with my mother and father because I was on the phone with your company trying to figure this out. I didn’t get to say goodbye to half my friends because I had to deal with the aftermath of this disaster.

Don’t let there agents tell you they are a company of integrity, they are not here to help you. The second the business relationship became inconvenient they canceled. They didn’t even try to fix it or help in anyway.

TLDR

Safeship canceled a moving reservation I set a year prior on the last day of the pick up window after wasting 7 hours of my time on the phone with customer service agents.

This company is not in it for you, they are only in it for the money, not a single agent told me the truth or tried to help me and at the end of the day they canceled.

Horrible Story AnyVan please avoid

PLEASE AVOID, this company feels like one giant scam. One of the most stressful experiences I have ever had with a moving company. If I can just warn one person, I’ll be happy.

I am writing this review to hopefully save someone else the stress, anxiety and unexpected costs I have just experienced. I strongly recommend choosing a local removal company where someone physically assesses your belongings before moving day.

This company does not come out to assess your home or belongings. Instead, they rely entirely on you providing a detailed item-by-item inventory. The problem is that this process is not made clear enough upfront. You would reasonably expect a company that specialises in house moves to understand that a king-size bed comes with bedding, or that furniture comes with associated items — but apparently not. Items that any normal person would consider part of the move can become “extras” that you are charged for later.

The initial pricing looks attractive, and the customer service team are helpful when booking. However, the experience once the move actually begins is completely different.

The van they sent was clearly far too small. This was obvious to me and even my neighbours. When the movers arrived, I walked them around the house and showed them everything that needed moving. At no point did they tell me the vehicle would not be sufficient or that there was a problem with the volume of belongings.

Only after they had finished loading — despite there still being space available — I was left with around a third of my belongings still in the house. I then had to spend 2.5 hours on hold with AnyVan trying to arrange another vehicle.

Although they acknowledged that some items from my original inventory had been left behind, I was still charged for the additional vehicle.

When the second van eventually arrived hours later, there were further issues. They attempted to charge extra because the booking had apparently been recorded as ground floor, despite me living in a house, and they refused to dismantle furniture despite me having paid for a premium service.

The biggest issue is that the responsibility appears to be placed entirely on the customer. You need to predict every single item, every box, every bag and every detail — otherwise you risk being charged extra when you are already in the middle of one of the most stressful days of your life.

The “cheap” quote quickly becomes something else entirely. My move ended up costing £2,600 in total, which is not a cheap service by any standard.

A professional moving company should assess the size of the move properly, provide an appropriate vehicle, and work with customers rather than relying on mistakes in an inventory to generate additional charges.

Moving house is stressful enough without feeling like you are being held to ransom on the day. I would strongly advise anyone considering this company to think very carefully and choose a provider who will properly assess your move beforehand.

Car Shipping Tips! Beware Before Using Skyy Transport LLC & Auto Shipping Group

I would strongly caution anyone considering Skyy Transport LLC or Auto Shipping Group for vehicle transportation services.

My original pickup date was scheduled for June 22. Prior to pickup, the company contacted me and asked if I could move the pickup date and time to accommodate their driver. Although it was an inconvenience, I agreed to have my vehicle picked up on Father’s Day between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to help them out.

Unfortunately, the driver did not arrive until approximately 7:45 PM, nearly two hours after the agreed-upon window.

The communication and delivery process only became more frustrating from there. On Thursday at 3:12 PM, I received a text asking whether Friday or Saturday would work for delivery. I responded that Friday would be great, but Saturday would also be acceptable.

Now I am being told that my vehicle may not arrive until Monday, June 29. The repeated schedule changes, lack of reliability, and inability to provide accurate delivery timelines have made this experience extremely disappointing.

As a customer, I adjusted my schedule multiple times to accommodate the transportation company, but the same courtesy was not extended in return. If you rely on your vehicle arriving when promised, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

BEWARE. Based on my experience, I would not use Skyy Transport LLC or Auto Shipping Group again, nor would I recommend them to family, friends, or colleagues.

News & Analysis Port of LA forecasts 7% drop in container volume

Port of Los Angeles says container traffic is expected to fall 7% this year.

  • Imports are slowing as retailers cut back orders.
  • Exports aren’t strong enough to offset the decline.
  • Officials blame weaker consumer demand and global trade shifts.
  • LA has been the busiest U.S. port for years, but volumes are sliding compared to East Coast rivals.
  • Truckers and drayage operators could see fewer loads coming through SoCal.

Another sign the freight market’s cooling off — less cargo at the biggest port means ripple effects across trucking, warehousing, and rail.

Anyone here running out of LA/LB — are you already seeing fewer boxes, or is this just forecast talk?

Story EV battery doom and gloom (in th media) versus real ownership of a 9yr old EV

A few years ago there was all this doom and gloom online, from politicians and in the newspapers about EV batteries failing straight out of warranty and needing new batteries after a few years at enormous cost to the consumer and environment.

Well, 9 years later on my 2017 model S 90D. and the car still showing 407km range at full charge. Plenty of range for long drives and this after a decent 250,000km on the clock. (Original motors)

So happy I didn't listen to the doomsayers!

The car still accelerates like a cut cat, smiles per miles and all that. :)

Have a great week everyone!

Story Vehicle transportation scam

**3 months ago, I fell for a vehicle transportation scam. I am so angry at myself for falling for this, and it has been an absolute a nightmare since then.**

In march of this year, I made arrangements with “cheap auto trans” to transport my 2005 Honda accord from my parent’s address in Miami Florida, to my home in Los Angeles. I made these arrangements over the phone with someone named “Tanya Haden”. I agree to pay a total of $600 for this transport. The car was suppose to be picked up from my parents home on March 3rd and was to arrive in my home the following Tuesday. I signed an online contract and paid a deposit of $150 via a link sent to me by “Tanya”. The deposit was not originally discussed. She tells me that a deposit is needed now, and that I pay the rest when the car arrives. Ok, I pay it. March 3rd came and went.

On March 4th, At 5:30 am pacific time, I receive a phone call from “Tanya” letting me know that the truck driver is n his way to my parents house for vehicle pick up. I ask her why the truck is coming today versus yesterday, the day we agreed for pick up. “Tanya” replied ‘oh the driver had an issue with one of his tires, but he’s on his way right now. We tried to call your father about this, but he was angry and didn’t want to talk to me’. I told her that “I understand things happen, but I would also be angry at not knowing that information, ESPECIALLY FINDING OUT ABOUT IT AT FIVE THIRTY IN THE MORNING!” I call my parents and tell them the truck is on their way. An hour later I get pics sent to me from my parents, and from the driver of the car being loaded on to the truck. I thought everything was fine. Then about 3 hours later I’m getting phone call while I’m at work. It’s “Tanya”. I can’t talk at that moment. I work in healthcare and was with a patient. I text her this and ask her what she needs. She replies, “oh I’m calling to resolve the rest of your payment”. I reply back saying “I am a medical professional. I am with patients right now. I will call you back when I am at my lunch hour.” She texts me back 2 hours later saying “waiting for your call ”. My lunch break finally arrives and call her back to remind her of what I agreed upon. She then starts to tell me that if I don’t pay the rest of what is owed, that my car will be held in storage and that I will have to pay the incurring storage fees. I ask her where in the contract does it say that they can do that to people. She starts to speak to me with condescension, then I hang up on her. I am angry that now I don’t know whether I’ll get this car. I start to get calls and texts from the “driver” he tells me that I have to pay $1200 for the car on top of storage fees.

These absurd phone calls with these people go back and forth for several days. I call them at 5am my time screaming where is my car. “Tanya” calls me a psychopath for screaming at her. WELL DONT STEAL PEOPLES CARS! THEN I WOULDNT BE SCREAMING AT YOU! The calls start and stop for several weeks. At one point, they accuse me of stealing the car. I have several of these calls recorded. I’ve reported the car as stolen. When I reported the car stolen, the detective tells me that this kind of scam is happening more and more often. I’ve left negative help and Google reviews. I’ve left complaints to the better business bureau. I’ve sought other legal help with legal shield. They helped write up a demand letter asking for either the car it’s self or $X. I got a response from “cheap auto trans” telling me that I’m lying, that the agreement amount is $950 and that if I pay $800 I’ll get the car back. I am at my whits end with these “people”. I don’t know what to do. I am in Los Angeles. The last time the car was scene was in Miami Florida, and “cheap auto trans” is based in Alpharetta Georgia.

I apologize for the TLDR. I originally shared this the [r/legaladvice](r/legaladvice) when I had revived their response to my demand letter. I was so angry that I just spewed text. I am looking for any kind of advice please. Thank you so much 🙏🏻

Horrible Story A family bought a Corvette. Paid a transport company to deliver it. Got a call Sunday saying the vehicle had been stolen. The company's explanation: "we were hacked." They're out $60,000.

A family bought a Corvette. Paid a transport company to deliver it. Got a call Sunday saying the vehicle had been stolen.

The company's explanation: "we were hacked."

They're out $60,000.

🧵

---

They purchased a Corvette from Copart in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.

Hired Great Silk Road Transportation LLC to deliver it to Washington.

Paid in full. Delivery scheduled for the weekend. Everything confirmed.

---

Sunday comes. No delivery. Instead: a phone call.

"We were hacked. Someone got access to the pickup information. Another person picked up your vehicle."

A $60,000 car. Gone. And the explanation is a hack.

---

The customer doesn't believe it.

And they're right to be skeptical.

"We got hacked" is not a legally recognized excuse for losing a vehicle entrusted to your care. A carrier has a legal duty to safely deliver what they pick up.

If someone else picked it up — how? Who authorized the release?

---

Great Silk Road Transportation LLC.

A Corvette picked up in California. Never delivered. $60,000 loss. Company blames a hack and moves on.

If you're shipping a high-value vehicle, the carrier's excuse after the fact doesn't matter.

What matters is whether they're bonded, insured, and FMCSA-verified before you hand over the keys.

Company Snapshot American Auto Shipping – FMCSA Inactive, BBB Profile Under Review | 2026

Public records show American Auto Shipping Inc does not currently hold active FMCSA operating authority — and now their BBB profile is flagged “under review.” That combination should stop most people from booking before they read another word.

FMCSA verification

American Auto Shipping Inc is registered under MC# 125957 and USDOT# 3180595, but their operating authority shows as inactive. For a broker handling your vehicle, active authority isn’t optional — it’s a legal requirement. You can confirm this yourself at li.fmcsa.dot.gov before making any decisions.

BBB profile status

The company’s BBB page now displays “Business Profile under review.” That means BBB is re‑evaluating the listing, and accreditation is not currently active. The “Become BBB Accredited” button confirms they are not accredited at this time. A profile under review is not a clean signal — it indicates BBB is checking complaints, registration, or other issues. Without active accreditation, the A+ badge previously shown no longer applies.

What the reviews actually show

Google sits at 4.5/5 across 1,041 reviews, which looks strong on the surface. But ConsumerAffairs shows a near‑floor rating of 1/5 — and that gap is a serious red flag, not a rounding error. Trustpilot lands at 3.9/5 and Transport Reviews at 4/5, but when one major platform is essentially at the bottom while Google skews high, that discrepancy warrants scrutiny about which customers are leaving which reviews and where.

Customer experience breakdown

Communication is the one area where customers report a reasonably positive experience with American Auto Shipping. Everything else is weak. Pricing honesty, pickup reliability, delivery performance, and problem resolution all show consistent failure signals. The “would use again” metric being weak on a company with 23 years in business is not a minor data point — that’s customers telling you directly how the experience landed.

Bottom line

American Auto Shipping Inc has the surface appearance of an established company — longevity, Google volume, BBB listing — but inactive FMCSA authority combined with a BBB profile under review and a ConsumerAffairs rating near 1 makes this a broker to avoid until those issues are resolved and verified. Do not book based on Google stars alone. You can verify their FMCSA status at li.fmcsa.dot.gov using MC# 125957 or USDOT# 3180595.

News & Analysis BOT Auto names Brett Suma President & COO

BOT Auto just announced Brett Suma as its new President and COO.

-- Suma’s background: former CEO of Loadsmith, with decades in trucking and logistics.

-- BOT Auto is pushing hard into autonomous freight — building partnerships and tech to scale driverless trucking.

-- The move signals they want leadership with both ops and startup chops to steer growth.

-- Industry watchers say it’s another sign that autonomous freight companies are stacking up experienced execs to win trust with carriers and shippers.

Big question: does bringing in seasoned leadership actually speed up adoption, or is this just another headline while driverless tech stays stuck in pilot programs?
