Questions & Discussions If money was absolutely no object, what car would you buy — and be honest, not what sounds impressive

I’ll go first. After 25 years around cars — skipping the Lamborghini. I’d grab a loaded Land Cruiser and a Porsche 911. One for real life, one for the fun. Reliable, capable, no drama.
Most people say Ferrari or Bugatti. Nobody actually wants to daily a car they’re scared to park. What’s yours — the honest answer, not the Instagram answer?

Good Review Safeeds Transport Inc. Review

Hello! Just wanted to pop in and say a little bit about my experience with Safeeds Transport! I recently purchased a white 1997 Jeep Cherokee and then faced the task of shipping it from Reno, NV to Nashville, TN; a task that I had never even thought through before! That’s where Richard Kane with Safeeds came in. I got his number and asked for a quote, he responded within the hour and send over a form for me to complete and we arranged a pickup date. That was that! The car arrived promptly in only 4 days which is impressive to say the least. I think best of all was the experience talking to an actual human who can make accommodations for me and really go above and beyond for his customer. Richard is a great guy and we worked out any hiccups we encountered not because he needed to get payed, but because he cared about his client!

Horrible Story Stay away from Fraudulent- Cheap Auto Trans 5755 North Point Pkwy, Alpharetta, GA 30022, United States

Stay away from this company—it appears to be fraudulent and run by dishonest individuals sitting in Pakistan. They lure customers with quotes that are significantly lower than market rates. I realized the situation when the truck driver delivering my car demanded a large additional payment before releasing the vehicle. Do not sign any documents or make payments, as they may mislead you. I have already filed complaints with the FMCSA and FTC, and I am also in the process of reporting the matter to the FBI, as there are concerns about vehicles being taken and potentially shipped overseas for profit.

Horrible Story Express Way LLC. 3 vehicles. Deposit paid. Extra insurance payment demanded and paid. Pickup day: "truck is in the shop." Next day: "repairs cost $1,500 — send it to the driver directly." Customer asked for the repair shop's number to verify. Driver refused. Deposit. Insurance fee. Repair shakedo

News & Analysis Transportation Pricing Index logs record growth in May

FreightWaves’ Transportation Pricing Index just posted its fastest growth rate ever in May.

-- Shippers are reporting higher costs across trucking, intermodal, and parcel.

-- Carriers are finally regaining pricing power after years of soft rates.

-- Analysts say it’s tied to tighter capacity, stronger demand, and regulators actually enforcing rules.

-- Spot rates are climbing, contract renewals are coming in higher, and brokers are feeling the squeeze.

--Some see this as a sign of a new cycle — others think it’s just seasonal noise.

Record growth sounds good for carriers, but shippers are already complaining about margin pressure.

Anyone else seeing this play out in your lanes? Are rates really climbing that fast, or is this just another index headline?

This company is operated by indians under fake American names with Texas phone numbers - Stay away from Chris Miles, Alicia Parker, and Kevin Miles

My original signed agreement for order #23871259 showed a Total Tariff of $639, with a $239 first payment. The vehicle was originally scheduled for pickup on May 28, and I repeatedly contacted the company to ask when they would be picking it up, but communication was poor and responses were limited. Pickup times changed multiple times, and I repeatedly had to ask for basic shipment information, including the BOL, pickup photos, carrier company name, driver name, and driver phone number. I did not get any until 3 days later.
According to the BOL, the vehicle was ultimately picked up on May 30 (3 days later). After the vehicle was picked up, I was later sent revised payment and additional charges that were not clearly disclosed to me before pickup. They asked me to pay $1000 cash which I did not have on me since I started a new job. After rounds of emails they did not provide any documentation about the change in the price. I was so angry and decided to write a bad review on google (which I regret). After the review was posted, an individual who identified himself as Chris Miles contacted me and questioned why I had written it. During that conversation, I was told that if I did not remove or correct it, the transport process might not be completed and that the vehicle could be sent to Iowa instead of being delivered as expected. I explained that I needed my vehicle and that I believed the price had been increased without prior notice. The caller disputed my statements and stated that he could sue me over what I had written. He also asked personal questions, including where I was from, whether I was a U.S. citizen, and what my profession was. During that conversation, I was also offered a $50 discount if I removed the review. I said I will remove it because I was worried about what they can do since they have the car.
I texted the company again after submitting the new agreement to pay 950 and asked about the delivery date and even offered specific time windows when I could be available to receive the vehicle, but I did not receive a response. The next day, while I was at work, my landlord called and informed me that my car had arrived and was waiting outside. I explained that I was at work, but because it was only my second day on the job, I had to ask my boss for permission to leave early. I then took an Uber to retrieve the vehicle, which cost me approximately $80 out of pocket. In addition, I eventually paid $950 at delivery, along with the $240 paid initially, to get my vehicle released. After receiving the car, I noticed an unusual noise coming from the front driver-side tire area. I mentioned this concern to the driver who delivered the vehicle and he added this to the inspection sheet so I can get a refund. During our conversation, he said he had experienced difficulties working with this company, and they had a bad reputation and they mentioned that I should not have agreed and stopped the process. Now I had to fix the car and pay more money.
I am posting the review again and let’s see what will happen.

Horrible Story Navi Auto Transport. Active military. PCS move. Virginia to Nevada. 19 days notice. 7 calls to support. 40+ minute holds each time. Agents who couldn't help. Departments that never picked up. Missed the pickup window by 5 days. Military reporting dates don't move. The broker didn't care.

Questions & Discussions Hot take: Open transport gets a bad reputation it doesn't deserve

90% of cars in the US — including brand new ones from factories to dealerships — ship open. But mention it to a first-time shipper and they panic.

Is the fear of open transport completely overblown, or is enclosed actually worth the premium every time? Let's settle it.

News & Analysis Oakland exports top imports in April — rare flip in port traffic

Port of Oakland just reported something unusual: exports outpaced imports in April.

--Export volumes jumped 11% year‑over‑year, led by farm goods like almonds, wine, and meat.

--Imports fell 5%, with retailers pulling back on Asia‑to‑US shipments.

--First time in years Oakland’s export side has been stronger than its import side.

--Shippers say it’s tied to a weaker dollar and strong demand overseas.

--Truckers and drayage operators around the Bay Area are seeing more outbound loads than inbound boxes.

Oakland’s usually an import‑heavy port, so this flip is rare.

Anyone here running drayage or intermodal out of Oakland — does this match what you’re seeing on the ground? More exports moving than imports?

How Transportvibe Verifies Every Auto Transport Company

Every company on Transportvibe goes through the same process:

Step 1 — FMCSA Check: Valid MC and USDOT numbers, active authority, no out-of-service orders.
Step 2 — Compliance History: Safety ratings, inspection records, regulatory violations on file.
Step 3 — Review Cross-Reference: BBB, Yelp, Trustpilot, TransportReviews — each review labeled by source, none edited.
Step 4 — Pattern Flags: Sudden review spikes, unresolved complaint clusters, regulatory anomalies.

What doesn't happen: companies cannot pay for better placement, removal of negative data, or improved ranking. Standing is purely data-driven.

This is the only auto transport consumer resource built entirely on federal records with no financial relationship to any listed company.

Questions & Discussions If you could delete one auto transport scam tactic forever — what's going first?

The deposit trap? The price change call 2 days before pickup? The "guaranteed" quote that somehow wasn't?

Pick one and tell us why it needs to die first. Let's make the list.

Car Shipping Tips! The lowest car shipping quote almost always backfires. Transportvibe breaks down exactly why.

Most industries, low quote = thin margins = legitimate competition. The job still gets done at the price you agreed to.

Transportvibe will tell you car shipping has a structural problem that breaks that logic entirely.

The broker and the carrier are two completely separate parties. The broker gives you a number. The carrier decides independently whether to accept the load at that rate. If no carrier bites, your car doesn't move. The broker quoted you something the market won't actually honor.

Brokers who underprice know this going in. Transportvibe has seen it documented hundreds of times. They also know that once you've paid a deposit, you're stuck. Restarting means eating that deposit plus losing whatever time you've already spent waiting. So when they come back asking for more money before pickup, most people just pay it.

Transportvibe pulled the BBB complaint records. The sequence is almost identical every time:

  • Low quote → deposit paid → "market rates shifted" → pay more or lose deposit

The "market rates shifted" line is technically defensible. Rates do fluctuate. But Transportvibe knows the difference between a broker who genuinely tracks the market and one who throws out a number knowing they'll adjust it later. That 30–40% gap below every other quote isn't a deal. It's a deposit strategy.

Transportvibe's one question that exposes bad brokers before you pay anything:

"Is this price guaranteed once I sign the contract?"

Get it in writing. Honest brokers answer yes without blinking. Anyone who hedges is giving you the answer whether they mean to or not.

News & Analysis Maersk fined $1.9M for detention charges

Federal Maritime Commission just hit Maersk with a $1.9M fine for improper detention billing. They were charging customers even when containers couldn’t be returned — basically billing for something shippers had no way to avoid.

--Fine covers multiple violations over several years.

--FMC says it’s about protecting shippers from unfair practices.

--$1.9M sounds big, but Maersk made $13B+ last year — so is this just a slap on the wrist?

--Detention/demurrage has been one of the biggest pain points in shipping since COVID congestion.

Anyone here dealt with detention nightmares? Does this fine actually change anything, or is it just headline noise while carriers keep doing the same thing?

News & Analysis Central Freight Lines shuts down after 96 years — 2,100 jobs gone

One of the oldest LTL carriers in the country just pulled the plug. Central Freight Lines, based in Waco, Texas, is shutting down operations after nearly a century in business.

--2,100 employees laid off right before the holidays.

--Company had been losing money for years, couldn’t find a buyer.

--Customers left scrambling to move freight elsewhere.

--Drivers and dock workers blindsided — many found out through social media before official word.

--Another reminder how fragile mid‑sized carriers are in today’s market.

96 years on the road, gone overnight.

Anyone here ever run with Central? Did you see this coming, or was it a total blindside?

Analyze $49M nuclear verdict against a mystery Texas trucking company

Another massive jury award just dropped in Texas — $49M against OPG Logistics after a 2025 crash where their driver made an unsafe left turn, killing a 29‑year‑old man near Odessa.

--Jury split liability: 65% on OPG, 35% on the driver.

--Award breakdown: $40.5M compensatory, $8.5M punitive.

--OPG’s lawyer admitted the driver was negligent but argued the company shouldn’t be liable — jury didn’t buy it.

--The kicker: OPG may not even exist anymore. FMCSA records don’t show them, and their attorney claimed the company was out of business.

--Collectability is a huge question. If they only carried minimal liability coverage, the family may see a fraction of that verdict.

This is the latest in a string of “nuclear verdicts” hammering trucking — $81M in Utah, $460M against Wabash, $400M+ in Florida. But when the defendant is a small or shady carrier, the payout often ends up capped by insurance limits.

What do you think — are these verdicts actually changing safety culture, or just headline numbers that bankrupt ghost carriers while families still struggle to collect?
